To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Cardano. The tech is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of blockchain science most of the tech will go over a typical investor’s head. There's also Charles’ optimistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from reddit literature, for instance. The investors understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of the tech, to realize that they're not just innovative - they say something deep about the blockchain. As a consequence people who dislike Charles Hoskinson truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Charles’ existencial catchphrase “smart contracts EOY” which itself is a cryptic reference to Sergey Nazarov’s Russian Scam Chainlink. This. Cardano's whole design philosophy is like solving a problem no one had, in the most convoluted way possible. They’re trying to shoehorn smart contracts into a UTXO model which is inherently unsuited for expressive dApps. It’s like designing a car with square wheels and calling it innovation.

Ethereum’s stateless push is about efficiency, not abandoning state. Cardano, on the other hand, seems to think complexity equals security or elegance, when in practice it just means developers are left building Rube Goldberg machines to do even basic DeFi. You don’t get bonus points for reinventing the wheel if your version can’t roll.
