Functions is clearly useful for full-on tradfi adoption. A must even.
It's just that grassroots crypto as a whole has almost completely stalled, so it's up to the banks to save the industry. And when they do, the ability to use APIs without any threshold (i.e. Functions) will be invaluable.

Compound partnered with Coinbase to build their own oracle, and it was literally one oracle pinging the CB API. Pretty sure switching to Chainlink increased their oracle expenditure 100x.
