Cars are one of the biggest headaches of the usa and act to drain workers of their money. A new car for me costs $1000 a month to cover the purchase of the car, mandatory insurance, as well as the taxes on the vehicles value.

Galectin Therapeutics is in Phase 2/3 in a clinical trial for treatment of MASH w/o esophageal varices (think varicose veins but in the esophagus). It does not work in patients who are so far gone that their esophagus is about to blow open and the patient bleeds to death. It's supposed to prevent those blood vessels from getting that large in the first place. The market is huge because it generally requires being a fat fuck to get that disease.
The study completes 2025-09-30. If it fails, prepare for a massive dump that'll probably bankrupt the company. If it succeeds, it'll be the very first effective treatment against MASH cirrhosis, and essentially be the ozempic for people who are too far gone to benefit from ozempic.
Extremely high risk, questionable reward. Sounds like /smg/'s favorite type of stock.

>>60528080It depends on if you are trading ETFs (and which ones), or stocks (and which ones). Prices can change after the bell (after hours trading) before expiry. Generally for American style options on expiry day the options expire after the close of the regular trading session. I might be wrong, I do not think options prices for standard stocks keep changing after hours on expiration day, as I have not seen my prices changes during that time. It takes a day or two over the weekend for the brokerages to clear all the contracts and settle everything. Note the value of the option contract your have, and check back in your account Saturday, and if the option contract is still showing check back again Sunday afternoon and sit should be cleared by then. The first two or three times I traded options it took until Sunday afternoon to clear, now for some reason they clear by early Saturday morning (about 10 am when I check). Good job making some money, take it slow, learn to make money, slow and steady.

>>60528100>>60528126Sounds like it could be a good idea to sacrifice 2-5% profit per contract if the stock price is close to strike then by closing out the position on expiration day rather than risk it being assigned.
In my case it was one PLTR put option at 137 strike. The last 5 minutes of trading day it kept bouncing around 137 but finally closed above so hoping I'm in the clear. Thanks bros.
When will Coreweaver ever stop? Surely it will snap back like rubber band.

I forget what channel but i thought that shit kind of shit is illegal.
>>60528160>Sounds like it could be a good idea to sacrifice 2-5% profit per contract if the stock price is close to strike then by closing out the position on expiration day rather than risk it being assigned. That is a choice you have, and you need to develop a feel for what YOU want to do. When I started I let them run though expiration (I was only dealing with small amount of money so I did not care) I wanted to see the whole process play out. Now I am playing with a bit more money and if in my opinion at that moment I feel like I have made enough money on a play I buy to close. Today, for entertainment I sold a call for CRWV for 300 to expire today. Price of the contract was falling quickly to about 98 so I figured I would just buy to close for a quck ~200 profit. I set a limit buy to close price of 100 but the stock price was moving up quickly so the contract price was moving up quickly and I ended up chasing it upwards to about $160 before I could exit. No big deal, just gaining more experience. You should know your limits/expectations and trade on that, like a business, there are always multiple factors at work and prices can move quickly. Since I closed the position I sold another call for next Friday, set a limit price of 900 and the price started falling again, I chased it down a bit and finally sold it 800. Volatile stocks can make you money but can cost you money quickly. So I say slow and steady, practice with small amounts so you can work the user interface quickly and buy/sell without mistakes and make money.
>>60528044Up 9k this week
>>60528158>so more like 4 months than 2 weeksYeah. Looking at the clinical trial data, the reason why their approach seems to consistently fail to yield results is mostly because they tried to aim for the most sickly patients that had no hope of being saved anyways. The median age is also old as hell, like around 49. They're finding more success in a preventative treatment rather than an outright cure.
The only conclusive result over their prior studies is that belapectin does no harm, or has negligible adverse effects. I think their primary issue is that they struggle to extract significantly statistically beneficial results, also in part due to taking on really risky patients in the first place that are decompensated and already have too many things wrong with them.
I think that's why their Phase 2/3 studies in their NAVIGATE trial is also extremely picky with who they allowed to trial. Out of 1100, they only have 357. Compared to their past studies, the qualifying criteria is a gigantic laundry list that rules out the really bad cases that could result in similar complications that was not primarily due to liver issues. This study actually started in 2020-06-22, so anyone who bought in early was not going to get a return on their investment for years anyways.
https://www.clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT04365868?term=%22Galectin%20Therapeutics%20Inc.%22&page=1&rank=1&tab=table
That's my extremely limited assessment of what I read through. Still super risky.
>>60528100Thats why i always do a 1 cent limit order to close hedgies get the cent but you get peace of mind
if you arent doing cheapies it should be negligible
>>60528080My understanding is that options are closed out on Saturday.
with how much money do you guys trade? how many trades a day/week do you make?
>>60528080I think they can exercise a short time after the bell but if its OTM at close it's unlikely. I usually get an email at midnight confirming it expired/got assigned
>>60528254>My understanding is that options are closed out on Saturday. The contract buyer has about 15 to 30 minutes after the bell to decide to exercise or not. The seller is closed out at the bell. There are millions and millions of contracts bought and sold and it takes a lot of compute power and time to sort all that shit out. Some of my small ones cleared on a sunday, but now they seem to clear on Saturday.

>>60528242>I think their primary issue is that they struggle to extract significantly statistically beneficial resultsAnyone gambling on pharma really needs to understand this. It's actually incredibly hard beating placebos in clinical trials.
>>60528263>how many trades a day/week do you make?I consider myself small time. Most of my positions just sit for months/years. I trade some options depending on what I think certain stocks are doing. Sometimes 1x a week, sometimes 1x a day for 3-5x per week. I try only to move when it is clear to me I am most likely to make a decent amount. I have no problem taking days or weeks off. I do not want to trade all day.
>>60528282>It's actually incredibly hard beating placebosAre there any placebo stocks I can gamble on?
president cunt is going to start ww3 and nuke the market isn't he?
>>605282631 big weekly trade on 100k USD. I run the wheel and aim for a couple percent profit a week. Some weeks are better, some weeks are worse. For example, I got assigned a bunch of soxl last Friday at 21. Then I got to sell options for big premium when Soxl spiked to 22.20 on Monday. It then bled out back down to 21. It's been a good week. And if soxl opens sideways or down Monday that'll be even better.
>>60528282Some of the richest people I know IRL made money from pharma.
I don't know why but apparently selling your relatively unknown company for a ridiculous amount seems quite common.
>>60528297I should say: they made their money selling their companies. They didn't invest in publicly traded pharma companies.

Dividends are taxed at 28% but there are some tax shenanigans you can do if they come from EU companies, don't remember what they are exactly.

If anyone has a moment to help a retard, I would appreciate it. I understand the PDT rule and the $25,000 equity requirement, but how does that interact with the normal non-PDT margin requirements? Let me explain: At Schwab for example, if you're NOT a PDT, when borrowing on margin, the required initial equity requirement is 50%. But if you're a PDT, you are allowed 4x leverage. Which is to say, if you were to go balls deep on a trade with the full 4x leverage, you would be at 25% equity right off the bat. So do the normal equity requirements of 50% initial / 30% maintenance no longer apply if you're a PDT as long as you close the position within the same day?
>>60528392I don't understand a word you just said, just buy more money and don't worry about those things.
>>60528392The equity requirement is raw equity, its a fed requirement with no logic behind it, brokerages wont jump through hoops to screw you away from giving them more fees when you blow your account
>>60528334>likely not going to be in Q2 at this rateThat's a foregone conclusion. Findings aren't concluded until September for that. The best lead is that it has a coin-toss probability of holding back early MASH cirrhosis w/o esophageal varices, so early stage btfo. It doesn't fix the liver failure, it holds back the inevitable for just a few more years since it addresses a symptom and not a root cause.
The treatment regimen probably takes an equally long time compared to the time it took to destroy a highly regenerative organ like a liver, which is on the scale of over a decade. That also assumes patient compliance and a willingness to improve lifestyle habits, which is notoriously low in the US.
It's funny. A hundred years ago, Americans were rail thin because they were starving in poverty. Now they're just poor and fat today.
>>60528468so its pretty much a pump and dump then, any reason why it recovered today?

>>60528438Thanks. It's hard to believe, but I guess I'll witness this power for myself on Monday when I start fucking around with 2000 shares of TQQQ with only $40,000 in my account and don't get a margin call.
>>60528474>so its pretty much a pump and dump thenYeah, if you're paper-handed, you'll make good money off of it so long as your entry is good.
>any reason why it recovered today?Dunno, people have hope?
If that NAVIGATE study pulls through and it turns out that it has a chance to halt the progression of a very costly and life-altering path to a liver transplant, it could do well. Ozempic did well for a little bit (before Novo Nordsk colossally fucked up their legal monopoly) and that sort-of fixed a symptom and not a root cause. People pay an extortionately hefty premium to avoid the consequences of their own actions.
How's everyone feeling end of week? Anything you're looking forward to come monday?

I make about 200-500 per week with options now. I have 100 wdef, 60 vcwe and now I'll build an 100 hood position with both cash and margin to sell CCs as a base. It's going great.

I think a lot of people need to hear that their own personal troubles are not their fault and that it is the system working against them. It's comforting.
The next step for them is the belief that their life can never be improved unless everyone else's life is destroyed. Some sort of equalization.
That's why you see all these total trainwrecks who end up waiting for financial collapse, hyperinflation, civil war, or who end up as nutjobs who track earthquakes and volcanoes.
This video finally made it clear to me.
But it also reinforced my belief in physiognomy. I mean look at him.

>>60529909Ok, thanks, Michael (Burry).
>>60529923To my mind the big picture is clear:
corporate earnings grow at a certain rate every year
stock market grows a little bit faster than that every year
which is why the P/E ratio keeps climbing every year
Then the market wobbles a bit and the stock market crashes, P/E ratios drop below the historic average, before starting their next multi-year climb again until the next crash.
Inflation or no inflation that train doesn't stop. It might go sideways for a bit but over our lifetimes it's not going to stop.

If you believe the chatter about a "lost decade" ahead after 2 decades of US overperformance, it's very likely to happen again.
>>60530148Also something that's been on my mind recently
If the stock market is to return let's say 10% CAGR over the rest of my life, isn't it better for me if it moves sideways for the next 10 years while I keep buying, and then making up for it with more performance later? Similar to the 2000's

You know Israelis didn't care about the palestinians cause they thought they are safe. Now after several rocket impacts they don't feel this safety anymore, which is good. Might turn them a little more humble and reserved.

The Iranians need to take out critical industry, power plants, refineries and airports to get the Israelis to stop, but unfortunately they don't have the ability to do that.
>>60530838>It will replace code monkeys and yes autos in select routes Will it really though? Seems to me like the "AI" would have to understand some basic things about the world to do those jobs, like what is "danger", what is "life", what is "safe" and it would have to understand what it is to have a physical presence in the world and also stop fucking hallucinating. LLMs are nowhere near that at this point and I doubt pure LLMs will ever get us there.
>>60530903self driving truck convoys are already close to being a reality, the truck on the front will be led by a human and the ones behind will be self driving.
This makes the AI's role very simple and doesn't put into question any philosophical considerations.
>>60530920>self driving truck convoys are already close to being a realityLots of things have been close to becoming a reality only for people to realize that the last 2% of the work is the hardest. Probably the only way to see if it's possible is to try it and see if there are any accidents in the first year or two.
This in mostly FNGB, NVDL, Google and UPRO, $100k in crypto ( Bitcoin and hbar) and $150k cash. What the hell do I buy to live comfortably
>>60530932>Probably the only way to see if it's possible is to try it and see if there are any accidents in the first year or two.I agree
>>60530920Eh, I don't know. We have a lot of single trucks now because supply chains are sufficiently complex to necessitate lots of trucks, not to mention there are real limits to how quickly trucks can be loaded and unloaded at various stops, meaning deliveries need to be staggered. I don't think self-driving shipping is really going to be a thing, at least not without someone in the cabin. We might get full self-driving trucks, but every truck will have a guy on board for security and insurance purposes. It'll make it a pretty easy job though.
>>60530946Point is self driving truck convoys massively reduce costs and there are routes where these make logistical sense
>>60530956Only if all the trucks move through a checkpoint going in or out of a city. In the city, I think trucks probably need to be individual to be effective. On the highway, maybe a convoy makes sense. But if you have to add a checkpoint that trucks pass through to split them add, add/remove drivers etc, why not just hire the drivers and not deal with the rest? Well, I'm just reasoning it out. Frankly speaking if it makes economic sense it will happen, if it doesn't, it won't, no matter how good AI driving gets.
