Bitcoin really needs some physical aspect to it like paper tickets or something that equal the price of a bitcoin so you can use it irl. Not everybody has a phone and stuff to pay digitally

If you don't have a computer you're literally living in a mudhut and not cooking your food

I tried using crypto for the first time to try to pay someone in a different country. It was a surprisingly awful experience considering how mainstream it is now. I think I ended up paying something like $30 in fees to transfer $50 and had to constantly switch between my phone and PC. There were also a bunch of holds on my account, which is normal for any financial institution, except there was no notification or ways to check my status at all, so I had no idea what was happening to my money. Probably never going to use it again.

It's fiat with extra steps already, printing it on toilet paper makes it even funnier.

You can exchange USD for stablecoins (USDC) on Coinbase for no fees at a 1:1 ratio and then send it to their wallet on SOLANA or BASE for around a $0.01. Then the only fee the recipient may pay is a small fee to withdraw it to their bank from their CEX of course if they want the money instantly. Or if they have a Coinbase debit card they can spend it directly from the Coinbase account which you could send them the USDC for free.

You just likely took a ton of unnecessary steps. Done right its the cheapest way to send money.

Skill issue. BTC fees are $2 right now, your fault for using an intermediary

I probably made a ton of mistakes, but the entire process wasn't user friendly. Was also surprised by how high the fees were since I'm used to trading stocks for free and transferring money to friends for free. Even transferring crypto from a coinbase account to a coinbase wallet cost money. Crypto is mainstream now, so I had much higher expectations.

Even $2 is unacceptably high for a $50 transaction when I can pay by check, credit card, paypal, venmo, etc. for free.
