Why do people hold alts instead of Bitcoin if most people underperform?

Because holding 0.1 btc will never lead you anywhere.

Is it better to underperform that 0.1 btc then? I don't see the logic. Even if someone outperforms btc, most roundtrip, or don't even outperform to begin with.

Alts can give you way higher returns than BTC, they are just higher risk too and right now we are in a BTC market so they have a negative alpha too

They follow some kind of logic that bitcoin 'only' did 10x in such and such a rally while a couple of alts did 15x and a memecoin or two briefly went 100x. What they overlook is that picking the successful alts and memecoins is a total lottery and you're as likely to lose money as make it, while BTC has consistently been a sure bet. Basically they don't understand what a risk/reward relationship is.

do you think now's a good time to buy alts then? or only if btc wear to stay above its ath?
>>60554841
yeah, that's true. I personally tried alts before and ended up roundtripping every time. The coins I pick just never end up pumping as much as the others so I end up holding and then go back to where I started. I guess if I were to sell consistently on the way up it would have worked out, though, but still likely less than holding btc from bear market to bull if going all in.

I’m currently down 10% on my alt folio, should I just accept the small loss and put it into bitcoin?

Historically, BTC drops in summer and reaches its highs around the new year, adjusted for seasonality. Alts tend to follow BTC. Make of that what you will.

Bitcoin has pumped. Alts have not. why can't maxies just take there 1.5x and go.

Hold 1 BTC is extremely risky if you bought at 100k. That's why. You're literally riding emotions if you invested money you can't really afford to lose. I have alt coins that are low and some are high. I should of bought BTC a long time ago, but just didn't understand it at the time and 3000 dollars seemed like a lot to risk at the time for some BTC bs, and I didn't think it would go so high. I still don't understand why it is so high either, beside it being an OG crypto. It's slow compared to other cryptos. I think BTC crashing out and disappearing would be the best thing in the long run for the market. There are a few companies that own so much BTC that if they were to sell it would crush the price of BTC. This is another major concern.

most people including the ones here dont have much money to invest to begin with. their only hope is a 1000x. btc wont do that so they bet everything on a single shitcoin. thats literally it. its basically buying digital scratch tickets.

BTC already passed silver. Once it passes gold, 0.1 BTC will be worth $100k+
