Can someone tell me how anyone could possibly know how much gold is left in the earth? Arenโt they just taking a random guess?

Lmao, the government taxes silver and gold at a punitive rate since they are considered collectibles like beanie babies, so high you are guaranteed to lose if you hold long term.
>Pre-1965 silver coinage, which contains 90% silver and 10% copper, is subject to specific tax regulations. The IRS considers physical holdings in precious metals, including pre-1965 silver coins, as collectibles. When these coins are sold, the gains are subject to capital gains tax, which is up to 37%. This tax rate applies to the sale of precious metals, regardless of whether they are in the form of bullion coins, bullion bars, rare coinage, or ingots. The tax rate depends on the individual's marginal tax rate.
>Bbbbbut how can i lose money if my silver went up in value
Buy $100,000 rocks, price quadruples in 20 years due to inflation, sell, owe tax on $300,000 phantom gain,,,,,approximately $105,000 tax due
Lmao you lost more than 50% in 20 years all due to taxes and this problem gets worse and worse the higher the inflation rate. That's why rich and smart people don't buy silver (or gold) only fools
Kektop!
>>60588861the entire surface of the planet has been searched for gold. When they find gold they take samples and map out how much is on the surface and for how far in any direction. This is done to see if a place is worth mining.
when they find gold on the surface they then bring in drills and drill out samples from hundreds of feet into the ground in all different directions. These samples are assayed and a map is built of gold deposits underground. Again this is done to see if it's worth mining
this has been done on every significant gold deposit in the world, and lots of ones that aren't currently worth mining. With all this information they can pretty accurately guess how much gold is in the ground waiting to be mined, and how much gold exists in the crust of the earth.
>>60589237>the entire surface of the planet has been searched for goldPlease substantiate your claim. How do I know thereโs not a massive gold deposit in my backyard 5,000 feet underground?
>>60589265>Please substantiate your claim>How do I know thereโs not a massive gold deposit in my backyard 5,000 feet underground?do you know what "surface" means?
>>60589305>what is ground penetrating radarYou still havenโt explained the possibility of gold deposits that donโt rise to the surface
>>60589320>what is ground penetrating radarground penetrating radar doesn't go that deep and it doesn't find typical gold ores
it's basically never used to find gold.
do you have some diagnosed medical condition I should be aware of?
>>60589324Stop moving the goalposts and explain the possibility of gold deposits that donโt rise to the surface
>do you have some diagnosed medical condition I should be aware of?Yeah Iโm allergic to metal recycling business owners
>>60589335I own a mining company and have spent most of my life mining gold. I'm not arguing with you about how gold is found. I'm telling you.
you can take it or leave it. I don't care.
>>60589335>explain the possibility of gold deposits that donโt rise to the surfacestatistically any gold that doesn't rise to the surface is too deep to mine and isn't counted towards reserves.
conversely, anything that's counted towards reserves rises to the surface and is shallow enough to mine.
in places where gold is found on the surface, miners drill hundreds of feet down in all directions to find gold below the surface.
in places where no gold is found at the surface nobody bothers looking below the surface because there's almost certainly no gold there worth mining.
>Statistical sampling is a method of selecting a subset of individuals or items from a larger population to estimate characteristics or draw conclusions about the entire group. It's a crucial technique when analyzing entire populations is impractical, too costly, or time-consuming. By carefully choosing a representative sample, researchers can make inferences about the whole population with a certain degree of confidence.
>>60588719I love kopeks, Soviet silver is probably one of my favorites to collect
>>60589335Your main mistake is confusing known reserves for all possible gold
known reserves are mapped using drill cores and are a fairly accurate survey of how much gold is in the ground.
the picture you questioned was talking about known and measured gold reserves, not some imaginary gold that probably doesn't exist under your yard and will never be found if it does.
>>60589335>Iโm allergic to metal recycling business ownersUnfortunate since I'm the only person here capable of casually posting more than IQdelet
I have to work to NOT reply thousands of times to dumb posts on 4chan.
but anyways, GPR doesn't find gold spread out in rocks at rates of less than a gram per ton, that's dumb. Even if it could, it doesn't go much more than 30 feet down.
the only way to find gold underground is with a core drill. You have to take physical samples of rocks by drilling down through them and then check those samples for gold.
>>60589335anywhere gold has been found, people have taken core drills and searched underground for more gold.
places where gold hasn't been found don't get explored because there's no gold there, or it's too deep to go after.
but the picture you replied to was ONLY talking about places where gold has been found.
RESERVES means places where gold has been found and mapped out and measured.
>>60589335The idea that I personally need to prove there's no gold under your yard is as dumb as the idea that I need to prove there isn't a teapot orbiting the sun at a distance too far to see.
it's the sort of logic a crazy person might fall for. Nobody needs to prove gold ISN'T in some particular place. They only need to prove where it IS and let the blank spaces speak for themselves
it's possible there's a magical gold body thousands of feet below you, but there's no reason to think that's true and nobody cares if it is.
>>60589335It's also laughable you think I'm moving goalposts in some debate you imagine we're having.
I am explaining things and you are pretending I'm wrong. When in fact everything I'm explaining is due to YOUR MISTAKE in failing to understand what RESERVES are.
but that's life. We get to be clowns for the people around us. You and I aren't engaged in an argument. I am politely explaining facts to you because it amuses me to show off what I know.

>>60588818Yeah pretty much I assume its harder to predict than platinum because platinum is in the crust commonly but like very tiny vs gold is big clumps. Like platinum is sifting through all the soil to get the specs while gold is nuggets so I think it'd be harder to estimate gold than silver.

In ancient egypt silver was more valuable than gold because it was rarer
in ancient egypt meteorite iron was more valuable than gold or silver
in the 1800's aluminum was more valuable than gold. Eventually the price declined to around the value of silver. Then it very suddenly dropped to almost nothing.

>I'm tall and very good looking and every country i go to I'm stalked by females maybe they can sense my wealth. There being a strong correlation between height and good looks and wealth. I would encourage yall to become rich like me by not buying garbage rocks if you are short and ugly
>I was talking to a youtuber one time in a foreign country about the many scam attempts i get by looking like i have money, tall white good looking no jewelry or fancy clothes. And he didn't believe me because he had no one scamming him being short and greasy looking 25 yearold. While we were talking several scammers came over and targeted me the guy was shocked. You are just inexperienced so you never had a female pursue you . Doesn't mean you can't get rich but you have to do more than getting scammed on silver
does it make more sense to buy gold from your home country or to buy it from other countries (assuming the price is the same) ?

If you've been thinking or considering it, this is your sign, suicide the right choice for you, you aren't wanted, not here, not where you are now, not by the people around you, you are unloved and unwanted because of your repugnant nature and worthless character.
Is the life you're living now really worth it? Your parents certainly don't think so, and I suspect you are also aware that you're a waste of resources, a net negative on the lives of everyone around you. Honestly, killing yourself is the rational action, it will benefit everyone who has been unfortunate enough to know you, as much as one can really 'know' an empty brown golem like you.

Your life is not worth living, you are hated by everyone around you. Even the people you think are your 'friends' are either your fellow soulless golems who will betray you in an instant, or you've mistaken pity and disgust from people who can barely stand you as 'friendship'.
Never forget you are alone in this life, you are unloved, and when you kill yourself, (and be honest, you know your life is going to end in suicide.) no one will miss you, no one will even remember you, your name will be forgotten within days, even your parents will stop talking about you after a month or so.
Why bother? Just do it now, all you're doing is prolonging the inevitable, the sad and pitiful end of your life has already been written, it's just a matter of when you finally work up the courage to do the right thing and kill yourself.

in late 2022 I walk into my local coin shop and there's a young guy, maybe 35 years old, looks like a hick... he has his multiple huge boxes full of plastic bags, cloth bags etc... probably 25+ years of stacking.
I heard the entire back and forth, he barely gave a fuck, he sounded like he was selling copper scrap more than anything, but he had silver coins, gold, numismatics, probably some heirlooms in there also.
End of the day took a 6 figure cheque and some cash and walked out of there happy.
Silver was $19 an ounce or so.
