I just don't trust the banking system. I don't think the government and Wallstreet actually has any intention of honoring the IOUs they are selling us. The Tudor beasts typically have a way higher premium so I would avoid those unless you plan to keep it for a long time. It really depends on your goals. If you want the best bang for your buck get anything as close to spot as you can, especially if you intend on trading or selling it in the future. If you want to collect and don't mind dropping extra cash for nice stuff, get those specialty coins like the Tudor beasts. The most widely recognized sovereigns are the Silver Eagle, Maple, Krugerrand, Philharmonic, and... one more I'm forgetting. I'm admittedly fairly new to this and this is mostly just information that I've read around here so someone else who's been in the game longer can chime in.
