when people say "alt" it means "alternative" meaning directly "other than" and referencing BTC. ETH is an alt. It wasn't even close to the first alt, btw. "Alt" has nothing to do with being a shitcoin or not. All shitcoins are alts but not all alts are shitcoins. If it's not BTC, it's an alt. Simple as.
