I do think people overstate the political significance of having kids and evidence bears out that kids don't necessarily make you "happier".

However if you want kids career and money means absolutely less than fucking nothing next to them. I have 2 girls and I honestly only go into work for them, nothing else can even come close to what is meaningful in a life. Everything else is noise.
