People that report eating a lot of salt are often getting that salt from goyslop snacks that are also loaded with sneed oils, msg, corn syrup, and other detrimental additives. If you're getting a lot of salt from sources that don't include these pseudo food slop additives, you will not incur the negative health consequences.

i've never bothered to back-calculate the margins but i don't think they're as high as you think they are. i make jerky occasionally. if you start with 3 pounds of eye of round completely trimmed of fat you'll end up with about 1 pound of dehydrated jerky.

if you purchase huge cuts of meat like shoulder, round, and chuck directly from a butcher and cut it all yourself you will save hundreds. you only need a bone cleaver, a sharp maneuverable knife, chain mail gloves, and a butcher's block. it is super easy.

I make my own using a metal rack dehydrator and setting it at 175 degrees for 6 hours. This slice, using beef round from Sams. I marinate my meat for 18-24 hours flipping the bag halfway through. Marinate is mostly wirshtishire, onions sauce,brown sugar, onion powder, pepper and liquid smoke. I only make it for personal use, but I know I am saving tons vs buying it from the store.
