Nurses and PAs in general are not as good as doctors. One of the problems is you have too much training for family physicians. It should be an entry level degree with a short residency. Specialists should have more rigor. The way it is now by the time they are fully licensed doctors don't have any passion or interest left in medicine. Lots work 2 days a week. They just say everyone has dementia in her neuro office and don't even do an examine over five minutes because they never even learned a full exam.

Overpaid and overrated. I rarely ever go in to see a doctor but the few times I have, it was a waste of time and money. I had some heart problems once where my heart rate was consistently in the low 30bpm range for days and it fucked me up (couldn’t sleep or eat during that time). I went to the er twice and both times I was told nothing is wrong with me and that I was in perfect health. The cardiologist who saw me even prescribed me metoprolol which is supposed to lower the heart rate even further. I’m almost certain the jeet was trying to kill me.

The problem really isn't the doctor's salaries per se. It's the entire system in the US...

A doctor has to take out half a mil in loans to get through school, so naturally you need high salaries to attract talent. And then once they are qualified, their practice needs insurance out the ass because anyone in the US can sue for anything and probably win. Insurance co will just settle, rewarding this behavior.

Then any halfway decent doctor is always fully booked so anyone on the younger side that isn't already in with someone good has slim pickings on finding a new dr.
