The question about how much you need to 'make it' depends on personal factors. My take is to figure out exactly how much in expected expenses for six months I have, add a "comfortable" buffer for my lifestyle and local economy, and figure out how that translates to ounces of the metal(s) of my choice (Au, Pt, Ag, Cu). That should sustain me for the worst of whatever midden hits the windmill. Use the current prices for your PM(s) of choice to figure out how many ozt of each or a mix. Real-life numbers: I need $4k/month, so $24k in metals.

You're not wrong but there are ppl who dislike the banks so much they stack pms, and then put their fiat emergency/general savings also into pms and tap into that separate stack as needed. Be your own bank thinking. Imo it's just not handy bit in fairness to them you can't really say they're losing money.

You can put your cash in a HYSA or a money market account and basically get 4-5% for free with no strings attached. It will just sometimes take a few business days to move your money out of it. You're basically getting exposure to treasuries without having to commit to the full duration (I assume that's what's happening behind the scenes). Only scenario where you'll get fucked is the full blown great taking scenario, but that's probably pretty unlikely, and the whole reason you stack metal ayway.

tbf i've got a very precise load up strategy, but zero exit strategy. All i know is i wont consider unloading anything until we are in 3 digits territory. Which in truth isn't far away. But even then, what's next? Do i really want to trade back into fiat? Fuck no. Stocks/bonds/shitcoins/etfs and all kind of jewish paper ponzis also are completely out of the question. I lost all trust in any IOUs bullshit. So i'm not sure what i should do with my gainz in truth...
Some real estate i guess? But the mid to long term outlook is really grim there too with a collapsing demography and sickening levels of taxes who make it always less attractive.

Averaged down i did +240% i think, since i purchased the bulk of my stack back in early 2019 & during the coof collapse (both @$14-15/oz), then bought the rest during local dips and plundered junk cheapies in auctions until now.
And ofc for the little i sold i never paid taxes. Pro tip for the ones who might one day need to sell some of their stack, if you plan to use ebay : check their home page and wait for ebay offers for reduction on sales' fees (range from between -50 to -80%, often during holidays) and sell at least for $2000 in one transaction (currently 50oz at spot).
The sales fees for $2000+ go from 12-13% (depends on various factors) down to 2%.
And with a -60% fees' offer, it goes down to 0.8% of fees; for ex. it's $16 on a $2000 sales, tax free, you leave next to nothing on the table.

idk to be the gloomy guy, but 192 millions of those were minted back in 43, there still must been tens of K of those in condition MS60+ out in the wild. I don't get why people grade this kind of stuff really..
I'd rather go after an ugly but rare coin, for $16 you can find some decently rare stuff in auctions.

My exit strategy is to wait for some sort of terrible conclusion to the bond market, dollar, and the federal budget. If the price spikes and there is no discernible change or acknowledgement to the political landscape then I won't sell.
Ideally, this is exactly why I hold on to mining stocks in the event they can start paying dividends to give myself a buffer from needing to sell physical.
I think it is axiomatic, the bond market and the banking system in general is a pyramid scheme and there is a resource shortage. It represents material economic losses. It's going to be like eating a turd sandwich. We can't leave the room until we all collectively eat it all. The elite and the banks want YOU to eat as much as they can coax you in to eating. So until you see some sort of catastrophic reckoning to the bond market, value of the dollar, and the budget deficit then just keep your head down and keep stacking.
Remember, Weimar Germany had a period where people were all happily selling their gold and jewelry thinking they timed a top only to find their cash worth nothing more than the heat it gave you from being burned. I bet $1000 silver will look pretty tempting. Hell, I would even sell a few ounces myself, but I will still be looking for resolution in the stated above.

tbf i don't even remember what it is or how much i paid for it, it's been few months. It's the issue with coins in arabic, you can't read any of it kek (beside the date, it's not too hard to learn). If you can't afford at the very least a quarter oz at once, don't even bother with gold and stick to just silver. It's pointless to get raped by fractional premium.

yup, and prolly $42 at EOW.
All TA traders (who don't care about silver at all) are wetting their pants like never before with the recent breakout & solidification of silver above previous resistance levels. They call it the MOAC (Mother Of All Cup&Handle), they drool while looking at the 100Y chart, saying it's the most obvious, most bullish chart ever, with several layers of bullish cup patterns.
Personally i don't believe one bit in TA retardomancy, but you know how it is with self-fulfilling prophecies, if enough TAfags believe in it, it will happen.

"Digital Silver" is the ultimate midwit filter:
>Low IQ automatically assumes it to be a scam since the bank said the Silver Certificate they found in their Grandpa's drawer was only worth a dollar.
>High IQ realizes that not having Precious Metals physically negates all their advantages.
>Midwits see Silver and Gold spike and dump their money into "Digital Metals" since that will be the easiest to sell and make a profit off of.
The People buying these don't view PMs as Money, but rather just another tool to make a profit.

I love the smell of shilling in the morning. Can't wait to see how they react to triple digit silver.

As an aside, I found a local coin store that pays spot for silver. I asked how they make money and they say they sell for a higher premium. Luckily, I do all my buying at a different coin store with fairly low premiums. Not that I plan to sell anytime soon anyway.

The least expensive in terms of premiums would be LMUs - Latin Monetary Union coins. These were gold coins truck at the end of the 19th century and into the early 20th. There were so many produced, they rarely have any numismatic value. A few types are shown in pic related. Buy these from proper dealers though - the bugs mass-produce fakes.

From 2 days ago:
Bayhorse CEO Graeme O'Neill comments that, "with the prospect of extending the Bayhorse mineralization onto our Pegasus project, and the steady rise in silver prices along with recent increases in prices for copper, antimony and zinc credits that come with the high-grade silver intersections at the Bayhorse Silver Mine is very positive for Bayhorse shareholders. Our copper grades are very encouraging but not surprising. Our ore sorted concentrate has shown up to 10% copper credits which would be very consistent with the results reported here given the sorter's rejection of between 85 and 90% of the material leading to significant improvements in final grade."

It's more that the institutions that peddle credit investments such as banks and Wallstreet and the government are all broke. If you do work and receive value and then trust that value to a ponzi scheme then you stand to lose your purchasing power. Valuable materials and commodities will always be needed, and as such they can adjust in price to account for monetary realignment.
No one is going to want to hold an asset that loses half its value in 6 months so the demand for real-world goods will skyrocket as people desperately try to spend their paychecks every Friday. People will be filling up those gigantic red gas cans at gas stations and people will be buying up cardboard trays full of canned soup and vegetables and pretty much anything they think they will need. They'll do so because those dollars won't be gaining in value. The risk to holding them won't be subtle either.
You know, we run a $700BN yearly trade deficit. If our trading partners say they want twice as many dollars for those same goods that we will be getting a hell of a lot fewer goods to consume. You'll consequently have fewer goods to buy and less ability to soak up devalued dollars. Prices will rise and the compensation for your labor will dwindle to being almost pointless.
Silver is a finished product, infused with energy and manpower - and the world needs a LOT of it.

PMs ballooning makes sense for all the obvious reasons. as for shitcoins and stonks, people probably see the writing on the wall, but don't really understand the problem. BTC and stocks are just sponges soaking up fiat with the assumption that they're somehow outside the system, fleeing fiat into fiat with extra steps. as the dollar begins to truly crash, it will likely be commodities and real assets that survive with any real value. If a manbearpig crash happens, bullion beans bullets and bussy will truly moon.

It's telling you that if the entire stock of above ground silver were stacked up in one place and everyone in the entire world hopped in line, only 1% of the globe's population would get silver if every person was give 364 ounces until the supply ran out. That is only a $14,500 investment to be in the 1% silver holders.
That is not to say that there are not other valuable metals, commodities, business etc you can own to retain purchasing power. It is simply illustrating the absurd scarcity of this metal in relation to the population. $14,000 is literal nothing. You can work a part time job flipping burgers and earn that in a year.
It is so profound because the bond market is $46TN in size. The stock market is $40TN in size. The yearly market cap of silver mined is a paltry $30BN. Any boomer can cash in his investments and go buy out ALL of the silver in an entire metropolitan area almost effortlessly.
People don't like to do that because the credit-income is so comfy. But take it to heart just how scarce and underpriced these materials are.

Itโ€™s amazing how stupid stackers are. Itโ€™s not like there is going to be a currency crisis where 97% are utterly fucked and then you and the other 86 people in your town of 100,000 who all have between 100 and 700 ounces of silver individually at a $400/oz silver price just get to just go on living life paying your mortgage and getting KFC drive-thru as if nothing is happening macroeconimcally that will effect you because you stacked a few hundred ounces of silver.

Iโ€™m hoping that the govt gives preference to stackers to help re-capitalize markets with our silver and gives us a huge leg up over the unwashed masses for doing so. Otherwise it isnโ€™t going to be worth it having invested in it. Someone was saying the other day that when they flush everyone down the toilet they are gonna be working for poverty coupons basically. Itโ€™s a seperate wheat from the chaff event. I have no interest in some mad max-ish scenario if it lasts longer than a year or 2. I donโ€™t have the skills or energy to help re-build. And even if I did most white people are total golem mind fucked trash now that it wouldnโ€™t be worth it anyway.

I think the govt needs the gold and silver now whereas when they confiscated before they really didnโ€™t need it. Back then it was probably more about changing the system to benefit them, while now itโ€™s probably more about keeping the system from falling apart as much as it will also help them too. And I think they need to throw us a bone and give us reprieve to achieve their end goal.

Humanity has never existed in a mad max scenario, outside of war zones, for very long (correct me if I'm wrong), and I doubt it ever will. Humanity's natural state is some sort of society. And yet specific societies do collapse routinely and even more often, financial systems collapse. Collapse doesn't mean it's gonna be a zombie apocalypse with no infrastructure. The stacker hypothesis is that whatever comes after our current FIAT financial system will value metals more than the current one does. That's pretty much it. Now feel free to strawman my post and shill your shitcoin alternative to hard assets.

Yeah no shit dumbass. The point Iโ€™m making is that you arenโ€™t going to need much silver at all. Whatever paradigm is next, isnโ€™t gonna be reliant on the current dollar paradigm where you have 24k in metals today. That guy is tallying up that he needs 24k in metals to make it for 6 months or whatever, heโ€™s calculating fiction. If you told me 20 years ago that the dollar will die in 20 years and you need buy 500k worth of silver in the next 20 years to be safe when it all collapses I wouldnโ€™t even bother stacking. Iโ€™d just live it up and when the time comes Iโ€™d just go out with a bang. That dude with the chart said you need 374 ounces of silver to be a 1 per center to make it. That makes total sense. Thatโ€™s close to 20k in metal right now. Who the fuck has that? Nobody. So itโ€™s gonna have to be a scenario where even just 10 ounces of silver will give you enough breathing room to adjust and go forward in the new system. Iโ€™m guessing 10% of people have that? Between heirlooms and jewelery. Which is a lot of people. But they will be at the bottom level. Youโ€™ll still have 50% with probably nothing. The UBI crowd and such.

And Iโ€™m calculating this based on 1 ounce =28.35 grams 14 silver dimes. 1 silver dimes sized coin historically is a days wage. So 14 times 10 ounces is 140 days or about a half years worth of wages. So you have enough of a buffer where you can start collecting your poverty coupons in the next system working whatever job but not be on the absolute brink of ruin. Then it scales up from there. 50 ounces gives you plenty of breathing room. 100 ounces maybe you can buy a home. And on and on.

They were stacking from the beginning thinking damn I need 500k in silver coins to retire. Iโ€™ll stack silver for years and then hopefully it goes to $$200 and I can retire. Not realizing when it all collapses they really only needed 500 ounces of silver to be killing it in the new paradigm. And then they could have actually spent more money having fun than in a coin shop stacking for years and years.

There's a misunderstanding. When we talk about ounces of silver, we're using troy ounces (toz or ozt), not avoirdupois, even though oz is sloppily used to mean ozt as well - even minted on coins.
So 1 ozt = 31.10348 grams. But yes, about $1.40 of constitutional will contain 1 ozt ASW.

if you go by a straight conversion of labor required, it takes far more man hours to create a modern mcmansion than it does a ton of silver.

this ratio also goes up with scale. If you're producing thousands of tons of silver the cost in labor goes DOWN, while the cost to produce multiple houses holds steady.

If we ever get to where you can buy a couple houses for a few pounds of silver or ounces of gold we're just going to stop building houses and go to work mining silver and gold.

Thereโ€™s a world where gold gets revalued and silver doesnโ€™t do shit. If it gets revalued to $50,000/oz and only have 3 ounces you are going to feel like a moron considering you have more silver than probably everyone America minus maybe 1,000 people. Iโ€™d feel way comfier with 8 ounces of 13 ounces of gold and still having a still unheard of stack of 2,000-2,500 ounces of silver which is more than plenty to sit on waiting for a ratio that may never come.

I bought 5 Kilos of Te.
It is extremely rare and a valuable alloy component. If you have ever browsed a bullion website and looked at kilos of gold, Pt and Pd - you should be well aware that the prices of those items in that quantity (32+ Toz) is not a feasible purchase for most people even if given a YEAR of saving.
I remember stacking in 2009 and being turned off by Pd. I just focused on gold and silver. You know in hindsight, Pd was $250 per ounce. Quite affordable. A kilo was still $8000+ each. At Pd's all time high of $3300 or whatever a kilo was $100grand.
It's quite humbling to think about. A literal rock like that being worth a YEAR of a high paying salary. It should shake you to the core at just how little we are all paid... when priced in metal.
One idea I think needs to be expounded on is "economy of scale" actually not being some great accomplishment of the free market, but a terrible weapon to hold us all on the razor's edge of poverty. We, the tax cattle, are not able to afford a home, kids, education, healthcare and things that require CAPITAL. But we are told our low wages are offset by our ability to consume cheap consumer goods (tv and sugar). We are obviously being scammed. And I think metal prices are a lens you can hold up and it reveals some truths about our predicament.
Enough rambling, however. I bought 5 Kilos of Te - and that purchase alone is like some insane wildcard I often forget I even own. It Te price ever goes adventuring like Pd or Rh then I am probably set for life.
And this is by no means advice to go buy Te if it causes you hardship or you want to Fomo. The premiums are not even close to silver bullion. You buy it you are locked in until something breaks. Who the hell are you even going to sell it to?
