You could have been like Michael Debakey. You could have studied something you find incredibly cool, saved hundreds of grandmas and grandpas, made a fuckton of money and advanced our understanding of disease.

So why didn't you apply to med school? If you had gotten in, you wouldn't have to worry about the markets.

idk what country youre from but its not easy in the USA. i remember covering 3k power point slides in 5 weeks and then taking an exam on it. i mean maybe its easier if you have good memorization skills and were a bio undergrad, but its not easy.

fwiw i scored 95th percentile on the physical sciences section of the old MCAT (and like 75th percentile on the bio and verbal sections) so im not a complete dunce.

This is actually not true.

Medicine is a regulated profession. Normgroids don't realize what it means to be in a regulated profession. The consequence of fucking up even SLIGHTLY can include being banned from it for years or even for life.

If you as a doctor get accused of improper behavior or a dozen other things, you can have a whole legalistic process hanging over your head in a way you wouldn't in most other jobs.

Don't do medicine.

How soon can AI squeeze some of these overpaid jews out? Healthcare costs are crazy. The whole doctor bs is a forced bottleneck. Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, Dentists, etc all purposefully have limited enrollment and make no attempts to increase it. And that's on top of the stupid amount of schooling before you are good to go. The process needs streamlining.

Nothing is being mogged by AI. At best it’s a nice tool but way too unreliable (and stupid) to be trusted as replacing doctors for years to come. It’s just people who don’t know what medicine is really like, parroting bullshit. Also another thing people outside the profession don’t know is that there are practically an endless amount of people who want help. Endless amount of patients. So even if AI got somewhat decent, at best it would just nicely speed up the amount of people we can treat.

Why does everything have to be tedious and stupid? Doctors used to be schooled for like 4 years then sent out into the wild. It wasn't this heavily centralized guild system that demanded 15 years of service before being allowed to work. They were basically tradesmen+, as were pharmacists. Everything is expensive because we made it tedious and obfuscated.

Doctors don't study the human body, they memorise 30k ppt slides a year for half a decade or more. The training is designed to make thinking impossible. All brain power is dedicated to memorising. You do not have time to reflect and you certainly don't have time or authority to question. You are totally buckbroken enforcers of whatever the medical Jew decides is the law of medicine. All the sunk cost and the high status bestowed on doctors is to incentivise you sticking to the script willingly.

U.K. here so different from the US, but suspect not so different. Had quiet a few friends do medicine and all are miserable, but once you start you are totally locked in via sunken cost fallacy. Imagine losing your entire youth to training, having to marry a female doctor hag wife (nurses are retarded sluts), basically committing to endless night shifts and working over Christmas, and at the end of the day even later in your career earning only v v low 6 figures. I’m a manager for an international company earning more than a late career NHS surgeon and have comparably zero stress and infinitely more flexibility. As a doctor you can either: 1) spend your days dealing with literally disgusting people; 2) do a mind numbingly boring repetitive speciality like ophthalmics; 3) waste all the training and years of experience to become a GP signing prescriptions forced to listen to bored house wives and pensioners. Again, U.K. perspective but medicine now is a complete trap — the only thing which keeps it going is sham prestige which is rapidly running out in the U.K. as who really wants to be a medical doc when they are now all pajeets and worn out roasties?

Pros: good women will fuck you and marry you, you have prestige, your parents are proud, you can live comfortably, you get insight into the human condition and get acclimated with your own senescence and mortality

Cons: it doesn't scale well, you mostly sell your time, your coworkers are backstabbers psychopaths and idiots, massive opportunity cost, even though it's very varied, it gets kind of repetitive once the training ends

Could be worse but I wouldn't do it again, mainly because I can't do anything else without a massive decrease in pay

The bottom line is anyone smart, hardworking, and motivated enough to pursue medicine could earn more working doing something much more interesting with far lower stress.

The only benefit to medicine unless you are a genuinely altruistic personality type (which most doctors are very much not) is the fake prestige which is rapidly, rapidly being eroded by the fact that a simple Google search and now certainly AI can do a majority of medical roles as well if not better.

There’s a reason suicide and depression rates are so high in the profession, and why divorce rape is so common.

Go onto any doctors investment forum and you’ll find them all bitching about being trapped in a life they hate peer pressured into massive lifestyle creep as the kind of women who marry doctors are exactly the kind who want the luxury car, lake house second home, etc, whilst Dr Tim slaves away on night shifts and secretly placates himself with an addiction to prescription drugs.

Better just to get a PhD if you really need others to call you Dr to feel your ego is satisfied in life.

I did. Psychiatrist. Make more than most surgeons with super chill lifestyle. Can do my job anywhere, like seeing you fags via Zoom from a boat in the Mediterranean Sea. I go in-person to do procedures, teach med students, and also got into leadership (lot of protected time to do nothing). Super modular job, can Lego-build whatever lifestyle you want.

Some shrinks just cover call shifts at a rural hospital for $40 grand per weekend, work a few weekends a year and #travel the rest of the time.

It didn't help me find a spouse because I didn't realize university was the best place to find a good partner. My standards are too high now because I was surrounded by Ivy League foreign nobility type kids all my life. Now 99% of women feel like retarded low-class trash. Even most female doctors only care about attention, clout, reality TV, celebrities, etc. Women have innate desires towards those (social) values, just like how even the most accomplished men still just want to fuck hot teens (i.e. Epstein and friends).

This is a great path if you have the brains, social skills (to charm all the higher-ups along the way), work ethic, and mental toughness. Med school and residency will make you want to quit. Many peers I knew were literally suicidal. Even the super-Stacy Ivy League cheerleading captain got depressed and struggled.

Most ppl also came from rich families. I never met anyone who came from a poor background. Even the black and brown kids were from elite African families connected to their country's president, or Hispanics with blue eyes, Scandinavian last names, and Daddy owned all the supermarkets in Puerto Rico or some shit.

Funny that for being a psychiatrist, you don’t realise how much your view is warped by your environment. Indeed you yourself say that despite Trump being american ”royalty”, he enjoys fucking hot bimbos. There is nothing special about elite people, some rural person from bumfuck of a white country can be just as intelligent as some elite citydweller. We humans are all the same. Hell, just look at napoleonic wars where in a truly pvp environment sons of beer brewers rose to Napoleon’s generals and started beating 1000 year old blood line royals. In my country, where all education is free, there are a lot of people from working class backgrounds that get into medschool easier than kids from better families. Getting in is the hellish part here. It’s pretty eye opening actually to how much people’s social position depends on their environment and choices rather than actual talents.

But thanks for the info on psychiatry, genuinely thinking of maybe specialising in it, just need to get used to all loonies at first haha. But then again, i’ve been on 4chan since 2008 so i’ve got load of experience about them.

Working with women is very different from fucking them, you’ll see if you get more actual experience with them. They’re soft as fuck and will feel hurt from the slightest comment or harder tone of voice. Ironically despite what incels say here, women are the ultimate upholders of rules and want everyone to play along as nice as possible. They have this doll house thing where everyone is super nice to each other at face value all the time. Really exhausting to keep up as a man as were more prone to humour and being blunt, but if you don’t play along they get hurt and start feeling hostility against you because of their softness.

Female doctors are pretty rough friend. Trust me.

No girl with looks bothers going into medicine as they have tonnes of better options these days. Then the girls that do are the most boring, career focused, humourless women you will ever meet. You will have fresh 23 year old female doctors who remind you of headmistresses. By 40 when they decide they might want to start dating you'll be lucky if they learn what mascara is.

I’m not that great of a student and my GPA in CS was barely above a 3.0 so I doubt I would be able to get in. But I got into a FAANG and made 200k+ since early 20’s with no debt and am now a multi millionaire in my early 30’s making almost half a million a year.

My job security definitely isn’t as good as a doctor but the fact I got to start a decade before them means I benefit from compounding interest. Just my invested money alone is throwing off hundreds of thousands/year. Doctors don’t even break even until mid-late 30’s after taking into account medical debt so while they can become rich, it’s not until well into middle age that they can actually enjoy their money and it would be silly to retire early given how many decades you needed to prepare for your career.

>>60683905
This isn't true. If you want to be a top-tier doctor, med school is important for a strong theoretical basis. And why would you want to be a mediocre doctor?
Bottom line about memorization is: if you don't know the theoretical information like the back of your hand, when the time comes for you to effectively combine it in a time-sensitive, high-stress situation, where you have to make decisions with incomplete information, you are going to fuck up 10% of the time. And if you hurt 10% of your patients, you'll be out of a job in a week.

I'm so happy that medicine exists bros. I somehow maintain the same enthusiasm I had when I first put on a white coat, all these years later.

Thats after decades, not years, decades of going through bullshit, stress, and humiliation to make it to the sugar daddy stage of MD.

I was in a medicine family, got to see how MD's act behind closed doors. Not a single one of them told me to go into medicine; they all said to stay fucking clear.

Yeah, they all had swanky ass houses, ranches, expensive vacations. But thats a sort of cope from having to go through the medical profession. The best and brightest of our family brutally killed himself when his wife spurred the idea of a divorce, left kids behind and the things his mom said when she heard the news killed the idea completely.

Mexico kept that mentality and you'll have a 24 year old in the OR with you who's soaking up all the practical knoweledge like a sponge. It's just like trades, you go to college to prove your not a complete retard, then medical+residency at the same time so you can 1:1 see how your book knoweledge applies in the real world.

Yeah you can fuck up and pay for a cheap surgeon down there and get your organs harvested, but if you pay a premium (1 day stay in the er) you're treated like trump.

My cousin just finished his fellowship and is only finally making decent money for the first time in his life now, in the middle of his 30s, has half a million in loans that he can’t just pay off immediately because he has a wife and kids now because he found a woman while in school and telling a woman to just be broke another couple years after putting up with it for a decade when you’re bringing home 200k is a good way to get a divorce. There’s better ways to make money.

I have never heard any old doctor or teacher in medschool say this. It’s always more like ”eh mistakes happen, most important thing is to learn from them”. You can’t know everything 100%, and even doctors have things in their lives other than work.
