Bitcoin has the deflationary store of value market locked down, first mover advantage and perceived security due to decentralization and how long it's been running without incident make it hard to flip.
Ethereum has the smart contract market cornered, it's more vulnerable to being flipped if others provide a technically superior service but generally it has enough enertia for the market to tolerate it being "good enough"
