How is this ok? Higher education in this country is indentured servitude.
Once federal payments kick in I'll be paying the equivalent of a mortgage, on a loan that I can't go bankrupt on if things go south.
If I get laid off or injured I'm fucked
I'm sure theres people with even worse loans, this will surely crash the economy.

Itโ€™s not really that bad. Just pay more down per month and youโ€™ll wipe it out an order of magnitude quicker.

i owe $152k in federal student loans. i'm on the SAVE repayment plan. i'm going to make a lump sum payment of $80k and the remaining $70k will be paid off in ~22 months.

after this i will have a moral imperative to destroy this jewnigger country that exists to hand out free PPP gibs to boomerniggers, billions to israel, billions to child rapist politicians, etc.

i plan on cheating on my taxes, abusing public services, and voting democrat.

It is arguably the largest predatory lending scheme in American history if not world history. It involves highly trusted institutions (schools, universities) colluding to convince gullible 15-17 year old children to accept lifetime debt slavery for degrees that are mostly worthless in the market. Through the state they rig it so that student loan debt isn't dischargeable through bankruptcy, making this possible (otherwise half of applicants would be denied, as they should be for their own safety since the risk analysis would grade terribly).

And now thanks to foreign outsourcing there's basically no corporate work left at all. 60% of past year American graduates are still jobless. You don't hate your state enough, you don't hate academic bureaucrats enough.

It kind of is a racket in that most other unsecured debt you can just default on and declare bankruptcy and it tanks your credit score but you no longer owe it.

With student loan debt it's basically there forever even if you declare bankruptcy. You basically have to fall into a vat of acid and show you could never work again to get it discharged. Unless that happens the feds can basically slurp up every paycheck you ever get an slurp your bank account too

The kicker though is that a fuckload of borrowers are still in default so idk if I'd want to be able to lend to anyone
