wood houses can last for hundreds of years if cared for. my buddies house is from 1880.

that being said it may not be the best choice.

Older wood houses are not β€œstick builds” like the one in OP. Even mid-century wood builds with real 2x4s are significantly better quality than the modern stick slop.

wood back then used to be dense hard wood from old trees they cut down. a wood's density takes time to build. the houses nowadays are using cheap hollow wood by trees that grow in 2 years. the ring son the wood are like 10% what they used to be on top of that it's build by immigrants who don't care at all about build quality. other than that yes wood houses CAN be good.

Plywood and dimensional lumber serve different purposes. Plywood comes in sheets and is for sheathing that acts as a diaphragm. Dimensional lumber is for beams/headers/studs/posts/etc. They do make structural members out of shit that gets glued together though: glu-lams, LVL, LSL, PSL, etc.
>>60725058
The wood may be better, but the hardware isn't. Modern hardware (hold-downs, hurricane clips, tie-downs, structural screws, etc) smokes the past.

This is a great gift because it exposes the no builders from the people who have experience with building

You post that gif as an example that wood construction is some how le bad whereas I see a builder that cut corners and failed to do some pretty basic stuff namely;

-Not sheathing the exterior to provide rigidity and prevent lateral movement

-Not using hurricane straps to tie the exterior sheathing of each floor to each other

-Not using hold downs that tie all the floors into the concrete slab.

If those basic fundemental things had occured then gif wouldn't have happened simple as.

>>60727300
You can simply engineer around it which is why we have LVLs, LSLs and PSLs

Its not that complicated. Human beings have always used the cheapest material available. How long the byulding last depends on how it is engineered.

Plenty of shitty masonry buildings that won't last long because it is poorly constructed.

This psyop is easily disproven by looking at how actual Europeans live. Ask the next European:

>The size of his refrigerator
>Where's his laundry room

they pay 35% taxes and get healthcare, education, public infrastructure, etc.
you pay 20% taxes and get nothing because all of it goes to israel. that 15% differential largely gets eaten up by private toll roads, private insurance premiums plus deductible, student loans, etc.

Also if you have health insurance, the yearly premiums are far cheaper than what you bootlickers pay in taxes.
The American healthcare system is corrupt and can be fixed with free market policies, but what you people have in Europe is objectively slavery.

US student loan debt is approaching $2 trillion. the average person can expect to pay out of pocket ~$40k for a college education that guarantees them nothing -- not an entry level job and certainly not a long-term career.
>Also if you have health insurance, the yearly premiums are far cheaper than what you bootlickers pay in taxes.
i work in corporate for a major insurer. i'm a healthy non-smoker. my plan is $160/month with a $5k/year out of pocket maximum. i have to worry about providers being "in network." my absolute baseline is therefore $2k/year in premiums. assume i make $50k (i make far more than this), that's a 4% tax without even using my plan. assume i hit my $5k OOP limit. that's a 14% tax for premiums for OOP. what rate do you think euros are paying for healthcare? what happens if i lose my job vs. they lose their job?

You pay more twice what I pay for gasoline because it is taxed so heavily. The taxes you pay in VAT eat up your taxes home pay into nothing. That's why you are poor, live in a building and ride a bike to work like a child. You can't afford to even live a standard of living of an American poor person. Bob from Mississippi lives below the poverty line and gets to keep more of his take home pay so he can afford a $61,000 truck to do doughnuts around his single family home while you pay 3x the cost of literally fucking everything thanks to VAT and seethe in a building.

Another government created scam. Instead of being optional like in the usa, eurotards are forced at gunpoint to pay for their higher "education" which costs a fuckton more than it would cost in a free market.
>guarantees them nothing
It's just as bad as in Europe. It's almost as if it's a scam or something lol
>$160/month
That's it? Euro taxes are more than that.
Also I explained how everything you're saying about the American healthcare system is due to a failure in government intervention but Americans still pay LESS while not having waiting lines and while getting the newest drugs and technology.

and because i know your pig ignorant nigger retard brain so well, let me stop you in your 65 IQ tracks. US refineries are DESIGNED to process heavy crude while most of our domestic production is light sweet -- which means we NEEDED middle eastern oil and we continue to NEED foreign heavy crude.

and no, you can't just flip a switch and push light sweet through US refineries. that would require massive amounts of capex to build new light sweet refineries because shutting down existing refineries to re-tool would basically kill our domestic refinery operations for several years.
