i gave zero fucks and did a side hustle for a direct competitor of my employer while still under their employment. Had absolutely zero filters and spoke about everything i heard during water cooler talks. Just got pulled to HR this week and they are now investigating me. It's a small industry and word got around. How fucked am i?

Not much more than the rest of the wagies. You are early to the "no employment ever" rat race.

Did you sign an NDA or a non-compete as part of your original employment contract? This is also why you shouldn't tell your coworkers shit (even the cool ones) about your personal life.

OP, ya dun goofed. Can you give us more details? Sounds like a juicy story. Also, this is obvious, but DENY EVERYTHING!!! Deny it all, that's your only hope.

Didn't see anything about a non-compete but there's a generic NDA about not disclosing trade secrets or intellectual property from time of employment to even post-termination. Which just means don't go full retard and share company documents with external parties I imagine. Yes i was pretty retarded but not to that level. i simply didn't give a shit about mentioning water cooler conversations

so there's a dude at the competitor side who i'm close friends with in real life which is how he hooked me up with the gig. i guess he and his ex girlfriend had a crazy falling out so she decided to go nuclear and reported both me and my buddy to my employer that we were good buds in real life. the boss at my company is a smart guy and he won't tell me what are the specific allegations, he's giving me partial information to see test what i'm willing to admit to him.

oh i don't know, maybe nothing. it depends on the contracts and stuff i guess. it's good if you didn't share any trade secrets.

Right anon, listen up.
I have gone through this several times and there's nothing to worry about.
The trick to this is to get your revenge in first.
Go on the attack hard, accuse them of everything, sexual harassment, racism, fraud etc.
Position yourself as a whistleblower in the public interest.
I bet you they back down, they may well pay you to go away.
You need them to fear you.
