I'm a leaf and my monthly expenses are $4168, over a year that adds up to 50k/year.
To live off a 4% safe withdrawal rate, I'd need 1.25m.
Add on about 1-2k/year in taxes, that landed me on 1.3m.
Rent 1672
Electricity 126
Food 600
Cell Phone 40
Internet 154
Tenant Insurance 29
Car Insurance 164
Car Maintenance/Gas 105
Clothing/Grooming/Healthcare 78
Entertainment/hobbies 400
Eating out/ubereats 800
My biggest expense is ordering food and eating out, I could probably live on less if I curtailed that habit and cooked everything. I don't enjoy travel, or concerts or going out, I just enjoy vidya, movies, and doing creative work on my computer.
I would like to live in a house one day, but average homes are 700k and I don't think it's worth waging another decade of my youngest years for it.
I don't really intend to "retire" and do nothing though, I intend to do gamedev. Maybe it never makes money, but even a modest amount would help compound my net worth, and I not having to worry about every game making money to survive would be a relief.
