What do you do for health insurance if you're self employed? They keep bouncing me from health exchange subsidy to medicaid because it's based on income and size of family. I literally lost my insurance and my doctor because I reported the change that we had a baby. Forced us all onto medicaid. If I go and make a large sum of money i'll have to back pay all that years subsidies. Which for me would be $800 per month. If I go and make an even larger sum of money then the kids will be kicked off their state health care. If I had to pay privately for everyone it would be over 2k a month. So I have no incentive to make good money unless it's fuck you type of money. Going without insurance would be my only option and i'm not young and healthy anymore.

The state plans are an utter scam, anon. You need to find the cheapest private plan you can. They will still charge a lot but at least you can get coverage and not lose access to things. Avoid the state exchanges. I use Farm Bureau. I was able to get it pretty reasonably for me plus 2 kids. I did lie on the intake paperwork. Commit insurance fraud, it's good for you.

THIS IS "obamacare". Everything is based off income, and family size and you get tax credits based on this to buy insurance. Unless they think you are too poor where they force you onto state medicaid which if you are a family of 5 is actually middle class. Trust me you don't want to be on medicaid. Doctors hate it. i live in the USA and have private insurance with a major carrier, not some fly by night poorfag shit. the waiting time for a preventative care visit with an FM doc in an outpatient setting was literally 8 months. i ended up coping and doing a virtual care appt because it was for a mandatory work physical (or else they would charge me a $600 a year punishment.)

I put myself on one plan for $330/mo. And then got a different one for the two kids at $280/mo. So it is over $650/mo. But that's the best I've been able to do. I have dabbled with going uninsured for myself but I have some regular scripts I need.
