Is Ethereum the next Bitcoin?

Hello everyone
I am new to forum but I wanted to ask: how soon would the cryptocurrency Ethereum reach the price of Bitcoin? Would it be fair to say it is 5 years behind BitCoin? Because I am thinking of putting $1,000 in Ethereum and if everything goes to plan, it'd be nice to be able to use the money to pay off my student loans.
What do you guys think?

Well, Ethereum is currently $4700 and the last time Bitcoin was that price was March 2020, so it being five years behind is pretty accurate.
