That's highly unlikely. The Pelosi's aren't your Next-Door neighbor Dave Ramsey 401k. They're stupidly rich and worth hundreds of millions. You can't really squander that kind of wealth easily.

Also she's not "new money". Her dad was a US congressman then the mayor of Baltimore lol.

Tariffs are a tax on the rich. A direct tax on corporations or rich people. Poor people do not import anything.
So all revenue is from rich people. One of those rich people is me so I know. I write checks to pay tariffs.
It will be fine. And it will be much better if/when they use it for lowering everyone's taxes in general.

It's also the only way possible he can tax the rich given that he depends on congress for everything else.
His only real power, being wielded.
Globocorp, especially those headquartered in the US, are literally the enemy of the entire world.

He's already lowered taxes significantly on working class people.
I have 13 employee currently and see the checks.
The 2017 tax cut was quite large and all the deductions add up to somewhere in the range that you can make $57,000 tax free at this point if you have kids.

I think they floated income tax for those under $150,000/y. I'd expect them to push that towards midterms and after they've collected a trillion in tariffs which will almost entirely replace the same amount on the personal income for those under $150,000. Maybe not. Won't be surprised at all if not.

I am eating a decent portion of it depending on circumstances, or raising prices much less than the percentage of tariff.
Many large corporations, the absolute worst ones, have nowhere really to go with prices because the prices weren't about input costs in the first place.
The prices were based on exactly how how people can/would pay. What people can/would pay isn't going to change.
So they'll eat a good chunk.
This is why you see Apple stock still down since "libgayration day." They will have to eat it becaue the price was already maxxed out and predatory.

This is only true for some industries with elastic demand, but obviously for inelastic stuff like food that can't be grown in the US, and through supply chain shenanigans ends up as a core part of the American diet.
This is one of the biggest problems I have with Trump tariffs. There's literally no thought behind shit like this, and everything is a blanket rate dictated solely by his whims.

Yes. I agree. But it's the most devastating for predatory priced corporations like Apple, NIKE, etc. Places that have upped their price to the breaking point for over a decade.
You can't up a price past the breaking point, it breaks. So they will hurt.

With food...we can make all food no problem and imported food is again, just a rich tax even if passed on.
My prosciutto that I feed my two year old will go up.

It's the best try I've seen. Not sure how it will work out. But I prefer tariffs stay and they are at a reasonable level imo.
t. building supplies

On the income tax...I will not believe it til I see it either. But I think it makes sense that they replace the revenue ahead of trying it.

>he's still retarded with tariffs
Not really. He's engaging in tit-for-tat. Canada has massive tariffs on American products, notably milk which has a tariff of something like 250% (because Ontario dairy farmers are ripping off Canadians).

France has been blocking imports of U.S. agricultural products for decades. Germany has been blocking imports of U.S. industrial goods for decades. Japan blocked imports of U.S. everything -- I used to work for NavTech, and we were unable to sell our car-route-mapping software in Japan because Japan set up a cartel which required following Japanese standards for database design in order to sell GPS automobile mapping units in Japan, and refused to license the database design standard to any non-Japanese company.

Take a look at Brazil some time; you could literally pay your round-trip flight costs by bringing a brand-new Macbook with you and selling it to someone there for below what Apple was forced to charge in Brazil due to tariffs. Not sure if that's been true since Bolsonaro but I think it still is; go ask some huehues on /int/.

American industry is the most efficient in the world. We've had to become the most efficient because literally every other country on the planet heavily tariffs if not outright blocks our goods from being sold in their shitholes.

It actually is. Our government has let global corporations offshore everything and that wasn't enough, they had to hamstring and do every manner possible of artificially raising prices and incentivizing spending just to get here.

When I price production for widgets made in USA, it's a very similar cost per piece AFTER tooling and planning.
We aren't set up for it, so upfront investment takes a lot, but then it's just the same and better.

We were the best when most free, now not free, easy to see the problems.
