So that's why everyone is suffering? Not just me? Need a good redpill on what 51% attacks are, too lazy to look it up myself.

Basically they can reject legitimate transactions, reject all other miners from participating, and double spend their own transactions
As long as they *actively* hold 51%
As soon as they dip below that threshold, the chain goes back to the non fucked chain, because they can't maintain this attack for longer than a few minutes. Even spinning up.this attack cluster is costing them millions a day

let's not kid ourselves
monero is attacked for ideological and political reasons.
There is no other coin being targeted as much as monero and not only by shitheads like pubicjeets but exchanges and governments

This. It's actually hilarious to see such an old and good for its use case chain get rekt so easily by a meager private company.
Anonymous (ID: jNxuLI17) No.60796420
Qubic is 51% attacking and dumping, while also making people believe they aren't doing it, thus keeping the price up for more extraction
Based, honestly
Anonymous (ID: Bydj6Fz3) No.60796424

Once the attack is ongoing it becomes much easier to actively maintain because honest miners won't get any block rewards and will either leave or join the attacking pool.
Anonymous (ID: hxFk3IvJ) No.60796492 >>60797257
While funny, this also sucks. There is always going to be a use case for a fully private chain. What are the alternatives? Monero had such a good position as the first mover.

Privacy-focused zk-rollup L2s on Ethereum.

I used Aztec all the time and it was great. They are going through an overhaul though with a new upgraded chain for zk-rollups so not usable again yet, but soon.

In general, zk-proofs. Massive amount of work being done right now to being proving costs down and make them scalable.
