In a perfect world, taxes are fine. Look at other countries where they have even higher taxes but the taxes are actually used logically and better the lives on the citizens. America wants to have it's cake (taxes) and eat it too (not help the citizenry). A lot of our taxes goes to waste and backdoor deals and bribes and "contracts" that make individuals rich instead of making the entire country better.

You look at very corrupt states like lousiana (and the rest of the south) and they're absolute shitholes, while other states are growing and doing well even though they have almost equally high taxes. I was told specifically that paving roads and maintenance of paved roads always comes at a net loss for the businesses providing the services. It was used as one of the primary examples as to why government spending is a positive thing.
