I messed up bros. I am 32 now and dont have single dollar invested in stocks or in any other place. I just kept all my money from my wagecuck job like some retard in my savings account

I started coming to this board from 2 - 3 days ago so I can finally become financially literate. I feel like I have to develop a lot of inside knowledge before I can start putting money around. Should I invest in v*/voo while I learn the ropes

dont listen to this fucking retard. ETFs underperform growth stocks, indexes, and Bitcoin. Literally the worst thing you could do outside of buying bonds or letting your money sit in a savings account.
if youre retarded and dont want Bitcoin, FINE; just put it into an s&p index and leave it for years.
if youre double retarded you can put it into a Bitcoin ETF
regardless you should make peace with not touching that money for years, invested money only returns to you once you make good profits, or go bankrupt and youre liquidated.
dont you fucking dare liquidate your portfolio for "but muh house and mortgage the boomers told me its a great idea to buy rn"

If you want to make up for lost time, you need to move quickly, aggressively, and take some risks.
-Move your savings, 30% into VOO, 30% into QQQ, 40% into a few mega cap companies you feel will be around for a long time. Microsoft and Amazon, for example.
-Do not sell any of these for any reason in the short term. Don't even pay attention to the stock market for a while, spend your time learning. Keep DCAing whatever you can save.
-As you gain confidence, buy a few more individual stocks you have high conviction in. DCA unless an opportunity presents itself.
-An opportunity is when a stock goes down because of conditions in the larger market, rather than problems with the company itself. This is when you want to use margin - a loan where you use your portfolio as collateral. (This is why you don't need to sell.) This will give you immediate buying power to take advantage of market dips. As long as you don't borrow more than 10~20% of the value of your portfolio, you should be quite safe.
-Learn trading/options if you want. Know that this is where a few people make generational wealth, while most lose their shirts. But if you go into it with a existing investment base, you can mitigate some risks.
-Only after your portfolio is substantial, consider slowly making it more defensive, such as selling individual stocks and reallocating into VOO/QQQ, or truly diversifying your wealth into different asset classes like real estate or bonds. Just don't worry about this stuff now. You want growth now, safety later.

it's a good idea to just buy voo, set it up as a recurring investment and don't think about it. if you want more risk/returns you can look into more degen shit, but you'll probably end up like a lot of people here who lost a lot more money than they would have made by just holding voo. if you must do degen shit i'd just buy a leveraged etf and HODL, never fucking sell. people lose money by trying to time the market instead of just holding forever. the people who win hold. LLMs are also good at financial tutoring if you want guided learning.

You've probably noticed you're recieving lots of conflicting advice. When it comes to money, literally everyone has an incentive to lie and manipulate into buying things that will make themselves richer at your expense.

Go and read the following books:
Rich dad poor dad
The intelligent investor
The richest man in Babylon
Money masters (3 hour documentary on YouTube)
Broken money
The Bitcoin standard
The Fiat standard

That will give you a broad spectrum of understanding why people believe in various choices.

Also a late bloomer in terms of investments (began at 39), in an extremely hostile country that HATES anything investment related (muh socialism!!!!). It's never too late to start learning and investing.

Spent my sweet time accumulating a pretty nice rainy day fund and now I'm DCA'ing in several stocks (AI, defense, semiconductors, quantum computers, etc...), an ETF (VUAA, for europoors) and crypto (BTC, ETH and XRP mostly). In the near future, I'll also start investing in property funds. This is my strategy, and I'll stick to it, either going straight to the mansion or to the local shelter.

Have patience, stay away from the shitcoin casino (at least for now), and let it brew.

The right time to buy crypto is when everyone is scared and wants to get out.
The easiest, safest, investment is putting cash into a high-yield savings account, under the FDIC/NCUA insured amount.
Most fund managers recommend a portfolio hold 5% gold, 3% of bitcoin, and then mostly stocks but more bonds as you get older.
Investing is like a game of roulette where everyone is shouting at you what you should bet on; come up with your own ideas.
You can buy an index to remove some downside risk. If you are really savvy, you can go in and read individual company financial statements and make a decision based off of that.
Most fund managers won't beat the average index return in a bull market, but a managed portfolio is usually good to have in a bear market as a manager ought to have experience in such matters as long as you've chosen one that has that experience.
A car is the worst investment you'll ever make.
Owning a house in the long run is better than renting, so long as you don't pay too much at face value for the house and lock in a good interest rate.

Don't listen faggots here who shill you one coin, and wait to invest, but consider the following list as a place to start. XRP, QNT, XDC, ALGO, HBAR, AVAX, XLM, SUI, APT, FLR, ONDO, OMNI, ADA, SOL, POL, ARB, ATOM, DAG, AAVE, DOT, VET, ZRO.

All are solid bets but DYOR. I strongly recommend at least a small bag of XRP, XDC, QNT, ALGO, and HBAR.

All in VOO/VTI/VTSAX and chill is the SS+ GOMAD n00b advice that will get you 90% there

Google bogleheads and vtsax and chill and go from there

Add some bitcoin if you’re feeling spicy and want to increase risk/reward (no more than 20%)

Just a general index fund + BTC
Crash should be somewhere this year or early next year so just buy a year after that, it usually bottoms out around that time

The idea here is to get anon investing as soon as possible. Since he hasn't invested before, going with the Mag 7, minus Tesla and probably Apple at the moment, is a good way to start. Collectively, they will beat the S&P. They comprise most of the S&P. They will increase his returns slightly at worst. I am not implying they are the best stocks for growth.
The problem with beginning investors is that they aren't able to sit through the kind of dips most high growth stocks will experience. They are high beta by definition, and price movements go both ways. So until anon develops greater knowledge and higher tolerance for pain, he should not be seeking out the "next big thing." He should just get the current big thing, with the goal being to build a solid base with which he could make use of leverage.
There are 4 general components to stock picking. Knowledge, guts, luck, and strategy. Knowledge and guts come with time. Luck you cannot control. That leaves strategy/tactics as what the beginner should lean on first. Safe usage of leverage is unironically one of the best things beginners can do to boost returns at the start, because your limiting factor at the beginning is the amount of capital you have. A good start is as important to investing as it is to a sprinter.

i just started looking into this shit now and realised i wasted so much potential juggling my money between banks whoever gives the most interest for my savings. i'm going balls to the walls putting all my savings in vanguard vgs:asx and hope for the best in 10 years time. at the least it can't do any worse than shitty interest rates from aussie banks that barely keep up with inflation.

10k of bitcoin at the peak of last cycle was 0.15 btc. Now worth 17k. 70% gain. 7k in unrealized profits.

10k of BITO at the peak was around 250 shares. Reinvested dividends would be worth 15k. Realized profits. You pay tax on the income. Cost basis tracks the position value. Not for everyone. I like that I can sell calls and wash trade the position on assignment without incurring a big tax bill.
