Come this winter, when rent prices reduce, I'll probably just get my own place. It'll be more than twice as expensive, but at least I won't be paying my own parents one thousand damn dollars per month.

In their fucked up mind, $1000 is a better price than what they would offer to others for my room. They also say it's for cultural reasons (every single person I've talked to thinks it's insane), and that it is to help prepare me for the real world, as if I don't already know how to budget.
I think they are just greedy. It makes me so angry.

I moved in with my dad, after he left 20 years before saying he was going to kill himself if my mom made him pay child support. He charged me $400 for rent in his single width mobile home. I didn't eat any of his food and bought my own separate food, then he raised my rent to $500 citing increasing food costs.

I left and moved to a 1 bedroom apt for $600/mo and he used MAID to kill himself shortly after.
