Maybe I'm crazy but I don't think a company paying out more dividends than the stock is worth over the course of a year is sustainable. It sounds more like a pyramid scheme where they're "paying" you by lowering the value of the underlying asset.

Probably $0.08~$0.095 this week. ULTY underlyings were blood red this week but did pretty good on trades some days.

Can someone who's not a divvy cultist calmly explain to me the mechanism by which $50k of a stock can throw off $50k of dividends annually? Is it basically a yield farm where the share price gets constantly diluted by new emissions or something?

So all I have to do is put $60k in ULTY and then enjoy a free $4k/month? What's the catch? Do you use Fidelity to buy it? I apologize for being a brainlet lol just trying to figure this out

I looked it up and it seems like the only drawback would be the principal lowers, so if you bought it at $5 a share it might go down to $3 a share in a year or whatever. The profit would still be nuts though, thank you based OP for sharing this. Sincerely, aspiring future NEET

These are funds that will lose your money outside of a full on bull market. People on here are desiring to break even after a year or two only to have to hope for the same when that time arrives due to the dividends diminishing faster than the shares, sad. In a bull market, these are good for income, despite severely underperforming the underlying. In a bear market, you will lose a lot. In a flat market you might break even and experience a return of capital. The people advertizing these funds have yet to break even once you factor in how much the shares have dropped in the past year and a half. Even if you magically bought every low since march 2024, you havent made any meaningful gains, theyre just giving you your money back while lowering the payout.

Would not be at all surprised if yieldmax just hold your cash in a HYSA then gives it back to you over time.
Anonymous (ID: LvG8unPN) No.60807781
Yieldmax ETFs are decent, but you need to be smart which underlying you pick. Have held YMAX and YMAG for a year and the dividends are more than the principal has gone down.

they just sell at the money or in the money calls on literal high beta trash. you get none of the upside and all of the downside.

anyone with 2 brain cells can do some math on that amount of yield with covered calls and realize the problem.

there is a reason "eveyone doesnt just do it!" and its not a "free money glitch".

the free money glitch is the high fees the etf holders pay yieldmax.

The catch is that you lose your investment through NAV erosion until they inevitably cut distributions.
It's not some secret hack. If it was, everyone and their dog would get in on it. It's a high yield fund for poorfags who are too dumb to buy normal covered call ETFs with actual stability.

They sell covered calls on high IV stocks, ultimately hedging their exposure meaning that the net change ain't all that different than if you just held the stock itself (it's just you have a 50% dividend yield combined with a 50% loss, coming out net zero).
Anonymous (ID: 38hTCQx0) No.60808915
I’m selling all 12k ulty shares. With capped upsides and based on the performance with all other yieldmax funds, nav erosion will be likely inevitable in the future. Diversify into these 5 is far better and safer will still have excellent yield and growth, QQQI, SPYI, HOOW, BTCI, and the upcoming Roundhill WPAY.
