I did a little math and it turns out the energetic costs as well as other less specific costs associated with cryptocurrencies and smart contracts, etc, are greater than the net benefit. It's really been enlightening on the nature of the economic system which previously was a lubricant to facilitate, but at this point has degraded into a caustic gunk and so the plan is just to make everything free within reason.
