It's literally a first world problem because first worlders have become obsessed with beautifying cities and have come up with insane red tape related to house building.
Why do you think third worlders put up with cleaning toilets for peanuts? Because they can put up with it for a decade and save enough money to go back home and build their own home on their plot of land.
Imagine a western wagie saving enough to build a home from scratch with 10 years or less of work? Even if by some miracle he could afford it, he would never be able to jump through the hoops to get approval to build anything.

Is the median-priced US home for a single person or for a family? If so, the necessary increase in incomes would be way lower, also depends a lot on how they calculated how you can 'afford' the home.

Its the dollar, priced in gold or priced in shares of the s and p, houses are at very low levels

Dollar devaluation shows up in stocks, gold, real estate, first and in wages never

Retarded ragebait tweet
a) Most homebuyers are couples, not single people, and would meet this requirement
b) With just a little time and effort, it's quite easy to make $150k+ in America if you're not a drooling retard

People are getting married later and therefore buying homes later. Single people who might get married in 5 years would much rather rent for the time being. This has nothing to do with financial ability. Maybe try looking at a country with an actual problem like Canada or Australia

Housing being affected by supply and demand = not building enough to limit supply while importing millions of migrants and allowing every person and institution on earth to buy in your country to increase demand. This is the main reason for the disparity between now and 50+ years ago because even though the dollar has lost value median wages have kept up with inflation fairly well

>People are getting married later
And why do you think that is, you drooling retard? Do you think people delay getting married and starting a family because they have too much money and just don't feel like moving out of their parents home? You should have been aborted.

High level retardation in your comment since the image clearly indicates โ€œHOUSEHOLDโ€ income which would include the couple as a whole.

And if it was real easy earning 150k as a household many more people would be doing it and it would become the median.

Just buy a house with someone.
I bought a house with my brother in 2018 for $300K
Mortgage is $975 each.
Less than 20% of my Net income a month.
Means you only have to make $57K a year to afford a house .
That's perfectly doable.

There's no problem. It's just funny to laugh at the angry zoomers and failure-to-launch millennials who are crying about 6.5% mortgages while the boomers had 15% interest rates, the draft, an oil crisis, and they still managed to pull their bootstraps up and buy a place. It's literally never been easier to get rich and buy a place.

The "average" is driven up by the insane costs of a few specific high octane regions (Bay Area, LA, NYC, Boston)

This is a massive country, just move to an affordable midmajor area.

>inb4 whining about how there's no work or pay there

There very clearly is and you immediately live like a little lord out here
