I want to get into sales, but I am completely clueless. I've never had any kind of office job or even owned or worn a suit.
Until 2 years ago I had an industrial job that I burned out at, and have been NEETing ever since. I'm European.

Sounds like a great profession, and being paid in a performance basis w/ a high wage ceiling appeals to me.

Anyone here works or has worked in sales? What did you sell, and how did you get into it?

I know 90% of this board is about crypto spam and speculation, but there has to be at least a few White men that have had real jobs and earned a honest living.

Yeah I work in sales, non-corporate

Join a sales program and then start off as a SDR or appointment setter, and then work your way up to a closing position

You need a sales program because you're not going to have the skillset, experience or connections to land an offer starting out

Also its a grind. Expect to put in long hours and not make too much in the beginning but a lot of the people I started with ended up hitting $20-30k/month

I'm honestly clueless. I'd be happy to sell anything high margin, like real estate or cars or whatever else.

I was the top ranked salesman for 2 months straight in a major US corporation you'd recognize (yes really). It's all about personality. You're either cool and likeable, or you're not.

It's stupid simple. It does not matter what you're selling. Nothing matters. It all boils down to a single thing: make the person feel good.

The whole Robert California shtick from the Office is pretty much on point. He says it's all about sex, but really its a bit more superficial than that: it's all about making the buyer feel good.

Are you selling to a regular Joe? Are they buying a computer for their daughter starting college? Make them feel good that she will be happy and it will work with minimal issues.

Are you selling a car to a retired man? He wants something that he probably shouldn't buy, but he knows he has 20 years left in the tank so make him realize this is his moment.

Are you selling a system overhaul for a manufacturing plant in Louisiana? That buyer wants to look good to their boss and prove that he was able to save them 3% on the annual expenses.

Just fucking make the person feel good. That's it.
