it's simple
>xrpies think banks will use their project
>xrpies get really, REALLY angry at the thought of banks using other projects
>CCIP was a massive catalyst for this, because it replaces/renders obsolete one of the primary use cases for their project
xrpies believed banks would convert tokenized assets into XRP, use the XRPL to move funds around very quickly, then convert XRP back into tokenized assets
ignoring the massive risks of such a process which made it a laughable idea even if there were no alternatives, such as exposing a bank to XRP token's volatility mid-transfer or exposing banks to 3rd party risk, this process they fantasized about became obsolete when CCIP was conceptualized
this generated an endless amount of seethe and was the leading cause of this "rivalry"
average xrpie doesn't even understand that a single token being valued at a "low" number doesn't mean it is easier to pump because they attracted all sorts of illiterate people by just regurgitating "banks will pump this token" to recruit retards
