I just opened a brokerage account with ETRADE
I dont know anything about business or stocks but I inherited like 40K. I only put 100$ in my brokerage to learn how to trade. Does anyone have any good youtube series on how to do things like buying and selling or shorting and longing? I'm stupid when it comes to this stuff, its just so jewish it repulses me.

Orangeman is crashing the dollar though and I don't want my inheritance to be worth nothing. Any help is appreciated. Pls have this polite cat image as trade

I was thinking gold ETFs are safe? I don't know how to buy real gold and you usually take a loss on exchanging it back to cash so it seems pretty pointless.

I was reading though that you can invest in gold mining companies or something called an ETF

can you buy bonds with a brokerage?
Anonymous (ID: kluBOIPj) No.60833906 >>60833919 >>60833997
buy gold and bitcoin ETFs. you can invest in gold miners, but they are like leveraged gold plays. gold goes up, miners go up more, gold goes down, miners go down more.
>>60833897
do not buy bonds, they are literally dying

read lynch's beating the street then put 80% of it in mutual funds or dividend aristocrats so you don't end up a broke retard while learning how to trade

Put it in dividend stocks and watch as many videos as you can until you're ready. Almost everybody will tell you what works for them or shill you something that benefits them somehow so you need to build your own strategy.

what is a bitcoin etf? Its not like buying your own bitcoin right, kinda like a crypto hedge fund or something?

the best way to describe something like IBIT and FBTC or others is that they have a direct claim on Bitcoin held in cold storage. it's essentially the same as a gold ETF like GLD. there are a lot of other Bitcoin ETFs that have synthetic exposure like tracking an index, like BITO or YBTC.

another important thing, Fidelity updated their filing on the FBTC ETF so that you can actually redeem the Bitcoin from the ETF.

OP.

Listen right now. Do not do options. Put that $40k into VOO (the S&P 500) and IBIT (Bitcoin). 70/30. 60/40 if you're more ballsy. Do not touch it. Ever. Don't fucking do it.

I hate the fact that you can open a RobinHood account now and among the first things you see is options trading and prediction markets.

its an etf.. essentially a basket of the s&p 500.. or top 500 companies in the US

its as set it and forget it as it gets.. typically goes up 10% per year on average over time

and financial advisors and funds typically measure their success based on whether or not they can outperform it year to year (most cannot)

>voo
this one is vanguards version of the sp500
same thing as the regular sp500, but a lower expense ratio (vanguard takes less of a cut)
>ibit
this is the most popular bitcoin ETF, which just tracks bitcoins price

i like investing and id still unironically just do the voo/ibit split idea myself, especially if its a sudden new pile of cash like an inheritance
very easy and itll just work

What's the benefit of a bitcoin etf over buying bitcoin itself? Convenience? Any extra risk the etf company fucks you?
Anonymous (ID: jfkf43Dq) No.60834467
>>60834399
>Convenience?
thats the biggest thing, its a lot easier
there may be other considerations like
>good things like buying in a tax-advantaged accounts, slightly easier to access it and move it around
>bad things like having to trust a company to custody the bitcoin, and expense ratios
i have some ibit for convenience, but mostly self-custody since im familiar with it and have a hardware wallet set up

what kind of return should be expected in something like VOO over say, a 5 year period? Is 10% possible?
Anonymous (ID: RBuL+GCQ) No.60834568
>>60834556
10 percent is realistic, expect 7 percent annual at the worst.

whats a typical AUM fee for a financial advisor?
how much is too much?
Anonymous (ID: WP384OCK) No.60835857

don't use a financial advisor, here I can do better than what they will shill: buy SPY, buy it every month with what you can afford and don't look at the market for 20 years. there you go.
