Where does charity fit into your finances? I don't generally donate to non-profit organizations or gove out money to people asking in the streets. Actually I don't do a whole lot of charity at all unless you count tipping.
That said I have a story for you. This just happened a few hours ago.

>see an older homeless woman on a bench
>recognize her because I said hello to the same woman three weeks ago
>she isn't panhandling, but since I acknowledged her she asked "Could you bless me with something? A couple of dollars?"

>almost walked by, but saw the lotto sign in the window
>I never buy these things, but I thought wtf might as well
>the owner gets up and opens the door for me
>I pick a random ticket (the most expensive because I figure those have better potential gains)
>tell the own "If you don't see me again, it means I lost."
>the guy says "Oh I'll see you again..."
>go sit at a cafe and scratch the ticket

I was thinking of Avalokiteśvara before purchasing the ticket and the suffering of this world was on my mind. I kind knew I was going to win in that moment and that's why I went in.
I found the woman again later. She has a couple of binders full of papers from programs to help the homeless. She has a guard card (certificate for security work) but can't work rn for whatever reason. I don't know about that stuff or how to help further. So I have her another $20.
I told the story to two employees at an establishment I've been frequenting for the past several weeks. I gave them each $20 as a tip.
I broke even overall, but they will now tell my story to others. Was it worth it?

This universe has no rhyme nor meaning. What you experienced, however unlikely, was a coincidence and only means as much as what you place into it.

Did you feel good by giving someone $20? That's great. Try doing it again and you'll waste $4 on a scratch-off. You're better off donating to a reputable charity and deducting it on your 2026 tax return.

It was $20 and I won't. It wasn't planned and I don't expect this will happen again.

I'm in a place full of libtards with non-profit scams who can't even take the time to stop and acknowledge someone. They're not for helping people. I would rather start my own and let it own the property and lease the vehicles I use while I collect a nice income. The same way they do.
Until then I won't be donating until they can donate the same to mine and we each get deductions for it.

She's not a junkie. She is in a place where a 3 bed, 1 bath house built in the early 1950's costs $1.1 million.
Rent is $2,000. If you don't have a family of 12 Mexicans chipping in it's not easy.

As a rule, I don't spend on charity. No yearly contributions to this or that etc...

Any time I have some shit that I don't want any more, I give it away via a local community group on Facebook. I just can't be bothered dealing with a dozen needy customers to make $20 on a sale. And the cheaper it is, the worse they act.
