Eth is near ATH and I've never felt this space so...dead
It's horribly ironic, btc and eth near ATH's but the soul of this space is just not there. Something feels VERY off. There's no excitement whatsoever, volume is dry AF. Are financial institutions ok with this, just sticking with btc and eth on razor thin liquidity with the charts looking toppy AF? Sure, they have the money to save themselves should a giga crash happen, but the point I'm making is that I really do believe crypto is dead dead dead for real this time. There will be no more bullruns like we experienced in '17, '21 and the SOL meme mania, ever again.

Seriously, what the hell happened to make this space so dystopian now?

youre retarded. the run doesnt end until mania. its a very good thing when nobody gives a fuck and tokens trend up on little volume.

it ain't dead, but the spirit of innovation isn't there like it used to be. we've definitively proven that unless your application needs an immutable point of reference, it doesn't need a blockchain. which with very few exceptions means only financial applications need a blockchain. and after a decade we have a bunch of highly optimized DeFi smart contracts, and there's not much need to reinvent the wheel. the nerds have hyperfocused on shit like scalability and user accessibility, but those problems have already been solved many times over. for years what they couldn't solve is retards being aggressively retarded and not using a freely available technology that is 100x cheaper than every other payment processing option. but in theory that should start to change thanks to stablecoin legislation. the other thing that died is yield farming, once something accessible to everyone, the idea got bottlenecked into solidly clones (a rigged game) and concentrated LPs that are fucked to manage

Problem is the last mania was November '24, bullrun basically got frontran by an entire year to sync up with hype events (ie the election).

good post, i think the spirit of innovation was also crushed by tradfi in 2022. from 2019-2021 devs were talking about how blockchain was going to change the world with decentralized swaps and synthetic stocks, but then there were hints of regulation, and banks started shutting down personal bank accounts, and most of the devs dumped everything and ran. imo its a terrible black mark on the community.

a big reason we're "back" now is with the blessing of regulators, which is not what a blockchain is supposed to rely on in the first place, so theres a disconnect between the price, indicating that people see more potential in this technology, and the history of crypto which has already shown that people will never use blockchain to challenge the existing financial system

The same thing that happened to XRP a few weeks ago will happen to ETH.

Institutions have been the ones buying up all the ETH on the market since $1400.
Retail has been circlejerking to eachother that "ETH is ded, my alternative L1 is better" for over a year, so now retail is sidelined (holding a portfolio of shitty altcoins) and in denial of the ETH pump.

I think a lot of people have soft PTSD from 2025. This was supposed to be a really bullish year and instead it's just been endless fud and panicdumping. Most people seem to just be expecting everything to rug again, which it probably will.

Retail lost their shirts last bullrun with Luna, Celsius, etc. The only players left are diamond hand chads and big institution at this point. Which is a good thing. Means we got a ways up before top is in.

Market makers forgot (or no longer care) that you have to let at least a small portion of retail make it in each cycle. If you just keep rugging without letting anyone make any real gains then people stop caring and you get what we see now. Zero enthusiasm with maybe 3 months left in the cycle.

leveraged degens have been wiped

there isn't enough market power in the world to stop ETH from hitting #1 asset marketcep

When I saw ETH smash 4900, I wasn't suprised in the least.

What you just said only applies right here. 4chinz is not the capital of crypto, not anymore at least

This. Let's be real, most people get hooked to crypto after they taste what winning feels like. That dopamine hit we all experienced during the previous bullruns, every time you open your blockfolio and it was just gains and gains and gains.

They need to let the new kids win and create the next generation of bagholders.

It actually might be different this time. We've had long periods of down-only this year, but pretty much no period of up-only.

80% of normies I'd imagine are sick and tired of crypto because they got burnt out of it in less than two years thanks to greedy e-celebs selling the worst scam in the history of mankind to them (nfts). they read the news on luna and the like, etc. way too much negativity, they finally came to the conclusion crypto is where you go to lose money, not make it. a shitcoin called "useless" is able to exist and it pumps well and it has made me good money so there's still a lot of people in this shit, it's just not "mainstream" anymore.
