Alright /smg/, I need our greatest thinkers to help me right now. I have a covered straddle write (6 call and 6 put calendar spreads) at 621 strike on SPY. they are profitable and I want to hold them at least until september 8th, but with the jackson hole rally plus a potential giga pump from nvda earnings, I am considering hedging my position by closing 1 call and 1 put calendar spread, and buying an nvda straddle or call, 8/29 exp for the earnings, that way when it moves like a bat outta hell I can manage some profit even if moves up bigly which would move SPY bigly and move me further away from my profit zone on my straddle write. This would allow me to stay in the straddle longer with my profits from the nvda play, which is my biggest risk to my straddle write at the moment. Of course if nvda moves down with a call, I still manage with my straddle going deeper itm, if i bought a straddle on nvda and it misses thus dumping, I capture profits from both positons. I believe they call this "hedging?" what do you guys think.

alright alright, listen, nvda earnings are going to juice the market aka move spy by like 1-2% alone. It's already responsible for the majority of SPY's gains. Im at the tippy top of my profit area on my straddle, if spy keeps moving up im going to start losing money. Spy is highly likely to move upwards if nvda pumps, and nvda is highly likely to pump if it's in line with or beats expectations, which it is likely to do either or. I dont want to sell my straddle just yet, so I can hedge nvda's earnings. My options are: straddle on nvda, call on nvda, sell my position, or do nothing.

I literally just had that. My crab strategy was 360 friday, then monday it was +600 over the weekend. On tuesday it went down to 250 on that dump On wednesday I sold for 250 gains right before the next dump. If had not I assume I would have went into negative. Now I would be probably up 500-600, factoring in decay. I didn't wanna risk holding because they expire wednesday. And they were slightly more long than short. I was right, until this faggot Powell had to repump everything.

some1 was asking about AMPL last thread, it has gross margins of 74% so basically what you'd expect from data company, but trading just under 5x price-to-sales while still growing rapidly so quite discounted because the general market dont know how to value cash machines until their bottom line is actually "profitble" on paper

you make lots of money by recognizing companies that can print a lot of profit once they make that switch, because the rest of the market dont know how to price that in, key point AMPL gapping up almost +30% on its earnings and then bled down to -10% close in the same day, it's a midcap so price discovery can be quiet volatile still, some big whales recognize the value it's showing already and can look pasts its exaggerated expenses
The thing with expenses is, as an example you might spend $10 upfront to fulfill a new contract that gives you $2 every month for a year (basically ~70% gross margin), but you have to report that $10 expense in a quarter yet only report $6 in new revenue so it looks like you're shitting the bed. This is why many growth companies can all of a sudden just switch to profitability when they let off the gas a bit, i.e. amazon having a pe of 1000x for some time or just straight up "unprofitable"

Now does AMPL have those characteristics? The cashburn and dilution in this growth stage does seem a bit worrying but it's still also under a 5x price-to-sales so a short-term $20 price target swing is quite feasible. If we had an actual bubble (no, even with ai right now, we are not really at mania levels yet like 2020-2021, far from it) then it could hit $40 or beyond, but probably not its $80+ peak given the stock dilution since then

I think it's an interesting play, it's crabbing right now which puts retards off, but you're supposed to buy before it goes up
IMO i think IDN and CXDO are more interesting, but you do have to diversify between (good) picks just to lower risk of any individual catastrophe

A lot of countries in Europe have index funds with higher CAGRs than SP500, the only thing you sacrifice is a bit of Sharpe ratio (i.e. more risk), but it's not like it's a third world junk type of risk.

VOW group is one of my favourites. Very surprised recently on Trump tarriff shit and internal labour organisation issues but they have a solid design group, high manufacturing quality and are well positioned to be the main European company to benefit from the electric transition.

Their main risks long term are EU regulatory fuckery and cheap Chinese ev's being sold at close to or under manufacturing cost by aggressive Chinese state companies, but VOW are too big an employer in the EU so there are likely to be measures to mitigate this in their core market.

I expect they will hit €125 (~20% gain) by end of year with a big pump from the EU trade deal.

Still a gamble on them coming up with a killer chip rather than just constantly trailing behind NVidia though. There's also the danger of Intel getting some dubious government assistance which lets them get more competitive again in both CPU and GPUs.

The 10% has been financed entirely with CHIPS act money that was already promised, it's just just a guarantee that ongoing government support is going to provide a safe floor for them to build on. Nvidia and AMD will be incentivised to do the work to produce on Intel fabs to hedge against TMSC getting Xi'd and with fresh tooling and processes (including upping the yield of 18a) from the big investment coming in intel will naturally begin to outcompete TMSC. I am very bullish on intel as a result, even if they are demonstrably a fucken shitshow right now.

>hiring ex cons

At one point they were so far behind schedule because of all these non merit based requirements they tried to bring in engineers from Taiwan and were threatened with CHIPS act funding being dropped so they backed up

Pretty sure they cancelled the next plant and are instead building in Japan lol

>>60844743
And Gazprom had storage sites in Germany before the Ukraine war, didn't stop Germany getting fucked by them being mysteriously empty when the tanks rolled into Donbass in order to apply geopolitical pressure. You're very naive to think the Taiwanese govt are going to happily let US chip manufacturing continue uninterrupted when the Chinese missiles start falling. They will (rightly) be looking for every bit of leverage they can use to get big Daddy USA to come save their ass.

TRY has never been a global reserve currency.
USD will probably go the way of previous reserve currencies (Portugal, Spain, Netherlands, France, UK).
It'll be interesting to see what happens since only France (GRC status ~1720 - 1815) had both a fiscal and a current account deficit, and they still had a couple years of Napoleon left in the tank after the French Revolution.

babe, you don't know much about the sminiconfluxer business. equipment matters. you can't just make smaller and smaller transistors with existing lithography. the latest and best machines are all sold to intel. they skipped the last batch of machines, they are operating on equipment that is older than tsmc. there were complex geopolitical reasons why they did this, taiwan is not a loyal ally and they were trying to win them back with soft power, the kmt, the people that founded the roc on taiwan, are now the pro-china party that wants reunification and we are trying to prop up the pro-tranny pro-usa party to keep them on our side. tsmc is a gift from the united states government to taiwan, it is heavily subsidized in many ways. intel is in no real danger, and was about to bust out big until they brake-stomped the technology surge that intel was financing, big tech is all pretending they don't need better chips and only want ones built by tsmc for now. everyone wants a piece of intel before they start dominating the chip business once again with leading edge nodes, the only leading edge nodes in existince. it's been a rough ride with a lot of surprises and concessions made, but they've finally cleared the runway. intel will not be stopped now, leading edge manufacturing is coming back to america, and it's going to stay here indefinitely.

The issue is that everyone was brain washed to forget labor is a resource. This idea that unlimited immigration and globalization shouldn't be resisted at all has done nothing but destroy the middle class, as expected and intended. Labor was made cheap from oversupply and so wages died

of course after becoming wealthy at the expense of its citizens, the elites now have to contend with the reality that western societies are all consumer economies with a broken down consumer

basically they killed the golden goose and enjoyed the feast and now realize it can't lay anymore golden eggs

not really. the top 10% does the majority of the consuming and most of them aren't laborers or threatened by immigrant labor. when the economy gets better and the middle class feels like they can move up again then the populism will die down. things could certainly be better but the "american consumer" is doing fine. the middle class has definitely seen 17 years of real living standard declines though, let's hope that reverses soon.

You inadvertently helped me with your SCHD-chan.

I read the worst FUD on hgraf to date last night. Apparently, on multiple occasions, Kjirstin has openly admitted that she does not want to be at the helm of this company as it goes into an explosive growth phase. She considers herself an interim CEO and plans to give the reins over to someone more experienced. In all likelihood, this will be some unattractive older man.

I was devastated to read this. Really hurt me bad, like someone piped acetylene and oxygen into my ass and lit a match. Visceral discomfort.

Then I remembered you. How you have managed to personify SCHD as an attractive waifu, despite the head of the fund being some dude. You're completely unbothered by that fact.

So even when Kjirstin steps down to a lesser role in the company, she can still be the sexy mascot that won my heart and took my 20k.
