I really fucking hate my job
Electrician here.
Co-workers always suck ass, no matter where you go.
The pay is not as good as people believe and the job is boring as fuck and sucks ass.
I genuinelly wonder how suicide rates are so low. I would blow my brains out tomorrow if it were written in stone that this is what I would do for the rest of my life (23 now).
I simply do not have the peasant mentallity to do this bullshit.

What are you talking about? Electricians are in high demand right now, especially in the fiber optic sector. Start your own business and rake in the cash. I'm telling you, it always takes me months to get an appointment with an electrician, at least that's how it is in Switzerland. I don't know what the situation is like overseas, though.

It's a myth.
I am switching professions and thinking about starting a buisness with it.
You need like maybe 10 years of experience and hire an other co-worker(s) to start a private business and not fuck up and burn down houses. As I said before, it is boring and uniteresting.

the pay is never good when you first start a trade. you have to work your way up.

At my previous job my coworkers only got paid like 50% more than I did with decades of expirience. At my current job I get paid the same as amount as my coworker with decades of expirience.
Thankfully last year of forrestry technician school starts soon so my mum will give me permission to be neet again. Yeah, the pay is worse but I actually enjoy it and there are handful of opportunities to start a private business out of it. It is also a do fuck all job in the summer so that is going to be comfy.

I would never do a job with that much liability. Especially if it doesn't pay well. So much unneeded stress.

Bro you barely got started. You need some time in the trenches before you have enough experience and network to make real decent money. It'll come hang in there

I did not even want this bullshit profession. I went to a vocational high school that thaught me this trade and now I am stuck with this bullshit. I never wanted it.

why are you working a "job" while you're in a field where you could start working for yourself tomorrow with just a van and a few tools?

you're a midwit. Majority of plebs are like you. I get it, starting a business is a bit intimidating at first but you'll get used to it. Electrician can make a lot ofmoney and everyone needs them.

liability is a meme. Especially in this field. If you know your job and do it well, there is no reason for shit to start taking fire. Also get a legal wrapper for your business so you are not individually liable.
Get an insurance company and don't worry if someone sues, that's part of the business. Just plan for it

you actually fell for the 4chan trades meme?
this is just a way for high iq anons to trick others into going into the trades instead of getting a university degree
thins the competition
only retards fall for it

You haven't read above my previous reply, I didn't really choose it, i got stuck with it.
There are high schools in Hungary and probably even other parts in europe where they also teach you a trade, so if you complete high school you will also end up with that trade. I thought it was slightly interesting at 14 but quickly realised i hate it but my mother forced me to finish it.

I don't want to wake up at 7am with the weight on responsibility hanging over me, even if I'm competent. That stuff makes you age like shit. Do nothing jobs are superior, even with reduced pay

You're 23. If you can afford to not live with mom and dad, you're doing fine.
Just learn your shit at work so you can move up and eventually start your own crew.
>>60852736
10 years experience comes quicker than you expect so long as you're into the work that you do.
Also, half the people out there citing years experience in a field are full of shit. They're not better or more knowledgeably, they just aged into this "credential".

Electrician here. Blue collars are the most boring uninteresting brainlets to inhabit the earth. I dread working every day not because of my job, but because of the scum i have to work with. The job is incredibly boring most of the time as you said. Add on 20 years and you'll get to enjoy failing joints on top of it. Some benefits: i make more than most people i know that went to college for anything other than engineering and I can call my coworker a stupid fat asshole without hr getting involved

I have this job and I love it. I worked in restaurants for 10 years first, finally worked up to a 5star line cook and realized nobody made any money at all except the head chef. Got a call out of the blue one day with an offer and never looked back. It is a bit like being king of the retards but oh well

Unless you are self-employed, It doesn't get better. 10 years will fly by and you'll be lucky if you retain any buying power due to inflation and pathetic 2-3% pay increases. After 10 years it gets even worse because your employer will be looking to replace you with a newbie whose been told all the same lies you were told. It's easy as fuck to start a business. Just do it now, OP. Stop wasting your time with employers.

so first you become self employed

this means buying
1. A business license (~50)
2. Liability insurance (~100/month)
3. A business phone line and internet (~$150/month)
The phone line comes with a yellow pages listing which doesn't matter, but gets your name listed on google and other websites.

Then you can spend some money on advertising if you want, but just having your name out there will probably get you more customers than you can handle.

once you're self-employed it's a couple very small steps to hiring other people and becoming a regular business. You'll make millions fairly easily, especially if you take the time to learn bidding.

protip, if you're getting paid $30 per hour your boss is charging your work at more than $150/hour. At that rate it's not difficult to make millions. This isn't a joke, it isn't a lie. I own a contracting company. I pay tradies in the $30 range to do work that pays in the $100-$250 range. I do very little work and they never wonder why I'm so rich while they're bored and broke.

Electrician as well. Building substations is where it's at. Made the hop over to this a few years ago. Pay is great and good mixture of work. It all gets boring after a while though.
