That the token has performed poorly for 5 years makes it more attractive to buy today.
If link was at $300 USD it would be a less attractive thing to buy. The fundamentals have increased immensely with little price movement reflecting the rapid progress of tokenization of the financial system.

When LINK does move up to three figures and beyond in hind sight the opportunity will seem obvious. Only in the present moment where we have observed the building of the chainlink network and infrastructure in real time and we have yet to see the value appreciation of the token that it might be harder for the uninitiated to see the value proposition.

When people read about bitcoin when it was $10 USD or ETH at $10 USD the possibility of future value appreciated due to fundamental value was less obvious as well.
