New to Cryptocurrency
Hi,
I recently inherited some money and before risking any of it would like to learn about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. Are there any recommended resources or coins I should start with?

Thanks

come back in a year when the next runup starts, you're too late now

100% BTC allocation at the bottom of the next bear market (12 months from now).

Don't buy crypto now, you will be a bagholder when we crash in a couple months. Buy something undervalued that no one is looking at, like silver mining stocks.

Yeah buying right now means you'll probably be buying the top. Maybe you can DCA with 10% of your inheritance right now so you won't feel like you're missing out, and you can DCA with the rest as soon as the market goes down (which will probably happen around Q1 2026.

What should you DCA? You can't go wrong with the top 3 (BTC, ETH, and XRP). Most other alts have been underperforming a lot as of late.

I am not going to buy now I'm trying to learn more first. It sounds like I have a year to prepare but I don't know where to start

Everyone is saying don't do what I said I didn't want to do but no one is answering my questions

Best way to learn is to sign up with an exchange and buy like 10 dollars of crypto.
Then download wallet software on your computer and transfer it around to see what that's all like.
Then look into cold wallets and self custody and such.
As you go, look for guides on your preferred platform.

Is this like hazing the new guy? Are you purposefully being unhelpful as a joke? I was told sometimes you guys do that

There's nothing to learn except when to buy and sell, and right now is a bad time to buy.

No prob.
Realize that it can be as simple or as complicated as you want.
You could just buy crypto and leave it on an exchange and probably be fine, but you never know. I myself have had my stack sitting on Coinbase for the last 10 years but now I'm moving to self custody and cold wallets.
There are many ways to fuck up self custody, so when/if you get to that point read as many stories as you can about how other people fucked it up.

There are always some helpful gentlemen on /biz/ who speak in a strange form of english and tell you about a "low mcap" coin. mcap means market cap. These are what you should buy. Avoid bitcoin.

Also wondering this as I'm new to it.

What exchanges are good? Is a Trezor wallet good?

This is the opposite of what you should do OP. I would honestly recommend not even considering looking into crypto as it's mostly a gamble whether you will make money or not but if you insist just stick with the big ones (Bitcoin, eth, etc.)

Good

Not rlly
Everyone will try to get your money.
Just stick around long enough and research any term you don't know. Eventually you will learn if you are smart enough.
And if you aren't, then there's no saving you anyway.
Good luck

moomoo was my guilty pleasure buy bc it works somehow, that carried it higher than half the “serious” coins i’ve bagged
