About to be unemployed
So I'm getting fired. No big deal as it won't impact my career

I have $60k saved up and plan on going on unemployment for a couple of months. I guess I'll focus on my health (going to the gym) and learning a second language

I guess I'm making this thread just to say it doesn't matter if you're poor or have enough. Life is still fraught with worries and fear

I'm kinda dreading not having a job. But at the same time my body needs the time off. So physically I'll be healing but mentally I'm afraid I'm going to be suffering

Health is wealth, anon. Thank God every day you have it

Why would you be suffering mentally? Time off from work would be a huge relief for me mentally. I get paid well but for years I have thought about quitting but then I wouldn’t get the unemployment benefits. There is no leave of absence either so my only choice would be to burn bridges and get fired, or to resign and if I ever went back, I would have to start over. It fucking sucks

We're made to work. You think time off is the answer the same I used to think that too

But in reality you get the time off and you start to realize how long the days are. Everyone else is working so even if you have money and time, no one else does and so you're alone

Unless you're married and rich but then even tho you've got a travel buddy, she can have problems that stress your life out too

Umm.....It'll be bad for me mentally cuz literally I'm gonna wake up and have nothing to do except what I give myself to do. IE go to the gym, eat right, watch my intake, do my language learning, etc etc

Imo you need to change your career if you hate what you're doing. Life is too short for that kind of thing.

Sounds like a (You) problem, I didn't work for 11 years, did freelance I guess for half of that remotely, lived with parents, best time ever. When I ran out of money and had to go back to work it felt awful.

Maybe. I've heard that view expressed before. It is hard for me to believe that the torture that being indolent produces is not a human feature but a more individual (me) feature

But it's always fascinating discovering what is unique to me vs what is unique to all human beings almost universally

You don't feel like a piece of shit tho? 11 years of accomplishing nothing. Do you not think about legacy, or betraying your potential, betraying your future self by spending your present (which will be his past) poorly?

I'm not literally calling you a piece of shit but that's what I would think of myself if I had done that. Just saying

>we were made to work
I agree to some extent. The current system we are living under is more of an enslavement program than anything else. That’s not the type of work we were made for.

>time off isn’t the answer you think it is
That’s all relative. For me personally, it’s about having that balance between work and life. The only time I ever found that was back when I was working a part-time job around 2009. It was only 10 minutes away from my house and I had a ton of free time to enjoy life. The pay and benefits were trash, so I was only able to do it for a couple years before I became a full time slave. It sucks

That's the crazy thing. I'm a straight man and I still find it lust provoking.
