It's because institutions took over and turned their (only interested in) tokens BTC & ETH into their new slow growth stock playground. Everything else (besides XRP from all the November tiktok fomo) got left in the dust because normies didn't come back this cycle. You NEED normie liquidity to have a proper alt season, see what happened with '24 SOL shitter mania, XRP tiktok fomo, Trump coin mania, etc. if you don't believe me. eth pumping from 4200 to 4800 was exciting for a day, then it went sideways for days before completely dumping straight back to 4300. Just disappointing and lame to see it not even blowing through to an ATH.
I remember in 2017, you'd have months of incredible price action, a straight line from $10 to $400 before finally a quick pullback 60%, and then from nov-jan another 3x from that new ATH.
Meanwhile this year its triple topped at the same price point, constant dumps, dumping all the way down 60% before finally getting a slightly higher ATH, and then doing nothing ever since. Like wtf, not even a 2x from 4 years ago? Piece of shit.

Cause its over and I doubt there will be a next cycle.

We will have a little run in Q4, but thats going to be it for most altcoins. BTC will run into 2026 and we will reach about 500k.

I do miss the old wild west days, but the future is uncertain. On the one hand, we could get a d*mocrat President who tries to ban crypto. On the other hand, so much institutional capital being willing to invest in crypto means that after a bear market, we would get billions dumped into the market and go on a massive moon mission. There's still potential for play here, but I think the days of routinely buying the crash and selling the ATH are over.

My final cope is that each cycle gets slightly longer than the last so late this year and early next year will actually be the real bull.
