There's no metric that would prevent it entirely. Who you marry is not who you divorce. You would need to have not fucked her over too badly and she'd also need to be someone whose aware and not willing to feed the divorce court system in endless litigation.

But the truth is, most men need to reign shit in early with finances. If your girlfriend is working, she needs to contribute to the household expenses, equitably. For every "gentlemen" covering the mortgage, the cars, the insurance, the gas/electric/internet, there is a woman with an amazon, target, bath & body spending problem. If you remove the perspective of "I work to afford to live" and reduce it to nothing, over time, she will consider what she buys as a benefit for the household, or worse, necessary and consumerism gets twisted into "homemaking". You need to ensure your girlfriend has skin in the game with bills, and is meeting whatever financial goals you set. Dodging the conversation, letting princess get what princess wants because you can afford to do it, is how you end up with entitled women. I see men making $200k+, $300k+ a year with the equivalent of a passenger princess with a credit card for a wife. By the time you're married with a kid, it's too late. A couple uncomfortable conversations helps prevent this shit. The women who never get told no and never have to learn to compromise, are the ones who take you for a fucking ride.

I will never understood why they are like this. Why do they NEED to be disciplined like a dog or child? Why can't they operate fairly and squarelt without taking advantage of someone who loves them unconditionally?

Become an expatriate someplace that's just ok, then (IF you have a desirable first-world passport and make decent money) go marry a mail-order bride from a poor country. I was all set to do this and then found out that the semi-shithole I was living in had such a badly contaminated food supply that I was developing neurological problems.
