Oldcel Slowcel Safecel financial guys
I want to ask you why you think this way?

My grandfather recently died at 89, he did the typical oldcel slowcel investing strat and he left a multi-million dollar home and multi-million dollar investment portfolio

But he never enjoyed any of it, he spent his entire life building this up. He wore the same clothes all the time, he only ever had 2 beater cars his entire life, and he only replaced the 1st one because it died

His entire strat was safely and slowly investing over-time into safe assets, no big gains, but just enough so when he was old, that he would be comfortable, and then he died.

Look... I GET IT, I know nobody wants to be homeless, but he literally lived like a poor person his entire life and never enjoyed life and died anyway, and now his boomer kids will spend it for him.

Ok I'm not talking about showing off and acting like a nigga.

I am talking about why bother putting all this dedication to building up the numbers when you will never actually use it and then you die.

At that point, why even bother? Just live your poorcel lifestyle without even thinking about this shit, you're never going to realize any gains you made from being financial responisble and investing your entire life anyway, so why even bother?

At that point you might as well just keep everything in your bank account and not worry about inflation because who cares you'll never realize profits from investments anyway

You're too much of a materialistic retarded faggot to ever understand and this is why he decided dying was a better option than explaining money to you.

Your grandfather was born shortly after the Great Depression. His parents likely taught him to save everything and not be a consooooomer. Life was far far different back in his day. Another thing to consider is that building wealth after WW2 was the easiest time in history to do so, so by then he was already a young man who likely saw opportunities. Graduating high school was enough to break into a modest lifestyle middle class. Most products were also built to last and companies competed for customers based on high quality and longevity. He has also had time in the market. You have not.

Conversely, just about everything today is priced in, overpriced and the younger generations are being conditioned to be perpetual renters, subscription owners and massive consumers. Some don’t save, some can’t save. No one gives a shit about a college degree and is not guaranteed a college degree will net anyone their dream job/salary let alone an entry level position that 60 years prior only required a high school diploma.

Your grandfather lived his life as he saw fit for himself based off of prior experience. Maybe his parents scared the shit out of him as a child to save everything and it stuck. Maybe he didn’t like seeing his wealth go to jews and niggers. Who fucking cares. Did he leave you anything or not?

I became this way after a couple realizations.
The future seems grim for youths so I’ll be able to just give my kids enough money to ensure at least a basic existence.
Buying and owning nice stuff is actually fucking annoying.
I bought a new Audi that I tried to keep immaculate. Every ding and scratch gave me stress. The insurance and maintenance costs were absurd. Now I just drive little old gook cars that are fun to drive and easy to work on. Doing some of my own repairs is actually an enjoyable activity and I can know for sure it’s done right. Currently in a 15yo Miata.
I had a nice big house in the suburbs. Utilities, taxes, insurance, maintenance costs were ridiculous. Made a shitload of money selling it and downsizing into a nice townhouse which gives me a much better lifestyle and peace of mind. I don’t have to think about obnoxious annoyances like maintaining a lawn and pool and it’s small enough that I don’t feel a need to hire some spic maid that’s probably casing it and telling Juan where I keep my monster boxes of silver.

I agree on new cars. Fucking maniacs on the road. I will never pay a premium for something in current year society that depends on niggers and spics not acting like niggers and spics to stay nice. Real freedom is having the biggest piece of shit in the parking garage and having other people annoyed that you parked next to them, not the other way around. Or having that Mercedes think twice before cutting you off because you will just fucking floor it.

Disagree on the property thing though the biggest upsides of money are owning a ton of property and luxury travel imo. Anything that keeps you away from the brown horde of modern society.

He did what every man should aspire to do...Set up the grandkids/ bloodline for success.

It compounds greatly after two generations of sacrifice. Sadly, very few in recent times, want to delay gratification.

Sorry for you loss.

I do agree here. I have investment properties and take very nice vacations. I just don’t like my personal residence to be expensive in terms of money and mental load. My peace of mind is priceless.

I don't understand this either. One thing I really don't get is they'll have loads of money in their account but watch as you struggle to get a loan or afford something and refuse to help you with anything but then give it all to you when they die. They'll have a will and know that's the plan. Why do I have to wait for you to die though? Wouldn't you rather see me enjoy life with you instead of only after you?

you're not even a real person. you're a fake, simulated consciousness created by the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come to show your granddad the error of his miserly ways. soon he will have a change of heart and you will cease to exist.

if they realize their investments during their lifetime they will have to pay capital gains tax on of it

investment values are stepped up at inheritance so all that CGT liability is wiped out for your benefit

maybe he realized consoomerism doesn't lead to happiness, maybe to him the thought that he and his family will never have to worry about money again was enough to make him happy then he proceeded to live his life, and not let money make him fuck bitches on his mansion.

Certain cultures build great societies. Certain values turn families into dynasties. The efficacy of such things do not require your understanding, just your continued existence.
I hope you will come to appreciate responsibility, sacrifice, and legacy soon enough. To be blunt, these are masculine concerns which may not be in vogue these days. But if being on /biz/ should have taught you anything, it's that most people are crabs who think someone else's good life comes at their expense. Don't fall into their way of thinking.

Lots of fags parroting the same stuff here. Listen man, you and I both know that working your ass off your whole life just so that you don't even enjoy it in the end is bullshit. I'm not saying "spend every single penny because the world might end tomorrow!" All I'm saying is you gotta live it up a little every now and then. Save some for your kids, help them build their future, but don't forget to enjoy your own life as well. Also don't forget that your own body is not forever, whatever you do, you won't enjoy it as much with an 80 yo body.
Once again , this doesn't mean "spend everything!" But rather, use your time wisely or you will end up wasting it.

Okay, since your opinion is so different from the rest of us why are you still making a false equivalency of what someone born almost 100 years ago did with their lives compared to a zoomer now.

Go see the /biz/ catalog, almost every week we get a post from an anon "making it" only for him to realize that money is not everything and that he's too old for some stuff. Or that all the time spent accumulating money didn't translate into the joyful life he wanted.

Hal finney was so OG on bitcoin that he received the first btc transaction from Satoshi

Some say Hal may have even been samefagging and was actually Satoshi

Either way, Hal likely had fuck tons of hidden bitcoin and he died 11 years ago, death mogs us all, even Bitcoin OG’s

I think sometimes investing makes you think you’ll live forever as a healthy young guy but in reality you won’t

If we had a /poor/ board I'm sure we'd see even more posters regretting wasting their productive years, chasing short term pleasure rather than planning for security. I'm not even sure I accept anon's characterization of his grandfather. He had financial security and a well-cared for family. How is that not joyful, full life?
Frankly, people who do care about leaving a legacy are far more cognizant of the ephemeral nature of life than those who only live in the moment for themselves.

Now you gonna speed all his money on retarded shit. I'm sure about it.
He was trying to build generational wealth and you're too fucking dumb to even understand your grandpa. Poor old man...

>At that point, why even bother?
Why do you enev bother living? Why don't you off yourself?
How fucking hard is it to understand that some people just like doing something. Just like somebody likes collecting stamps, your grandpa liked building his portfolio.
Can your brain even comprehend this idea?
