>local bistro runs out of money and has to shut
>check Facebook page
>open between 12-2pm Monday-Friday
>you have to preorder before going
Why do businesses like this think they’ll make money? Did they just hate serving wagies by closing before they get off work?

it's a combination of being a financially illiterate retard who can't into microsoft excel and deluding yourself into thinking that you can somehow work less than a wagie at a wagie job as a self employed business owner in a low margin industry like a coffee shop.

assuming, of course, it wasn't some retarded hobby business by a rich man's trophy wife.

>you have to pay workers hourly and being open costs money
>you find that most customers come in between 12-2pm, m-f
>so, literally operate the business only during busy time
>force people to submit orders so there is no waiting around in line, and no need to pay a cashier

you just hate it because it sounds inconvenient to you.

I think after months of them bitching that people didn’t go to it, and raging at some random guys commenting that it’s not open when people would go, it’s pretty inconvenient

i don't understand restaurants that are not constantly open between 11H and 23H

if i see your restaurant only once closed without particular reason between 11H and 23H i'm never coming back and i will give you 1 star on Google

you are a fucking restaurant and i'm hungry everyday between 11AM - 11PM just be open or i will make you regret it

same for coffee shops, 6AM-6PM or i kill your mother

It's true. If they are doing this model already, it's not good. And in this economy? Rekt.

They're banking their entire business on office wagies going there for lunch. I've never understood it either. I've seen so many of these restaurants that I wanna try but they're just never open.

The small coffee shop 3 minutes down the street from me, opened up another one literally on the same street, like 3 minutes farther down the road.

No, I'm not joking.

Same name and everything.

I love seeing businesses like this get rek'd. There's a ton of stuff like this where I live and it's always a tasteless cash grab with some funky approximation of what a "fun, cool" joint in the 90's would look like if they decorated off temu, and bad "gangster" rap playing. They're open 11 - 4, Mon - Fri, You need to scan a QR code to see the menu and it's something like "420 Blayzn' burger, $17.99. Fries (reg., Cajun, jicama), $5.99. Sriracha aoli $1.99" and a "service charge" and suggested tip to pick it up yourself.

I had the misfortune to going one of these a while ago. It was this burger "restaurant" and their menu was entirely grafitti style bullshit that was practically unintelligible. All to serve me a hamburger with fries for extra charge. I can only hope that as few people as possible make the same mistake that I made that day and they swiftly go out of business

Yeah. I was in Argentina last month and there were a LOT of businesses with either weird hours or way-too-limited hours. Like, one coffee shop was closed on Tuesdays. Why Tuesdays? Well, why not?

Or bars that were open literally only two nights per week, Friday evening and Saturday evening, for about four hours each. Like, I get it, those are the core "let's go drink and listen to music" nights, but seriously only four fucking hours? Why not open at 7pm?

Lots of other examples of businesses there that simply didn't seem to want my money. Like one cellphone shop, ok, you don't want to use Google Translate to figure out that I want to buy a SIM card, well, I'll go buy it somewhere else then, enjoy your afternoon siesta.

My favorite restaurant closure story was a guy who started a vegan pizza shop. No, you animal enslaver, you cannot have real cheese on your pizza. No, you fucking murderer, you can't have real pepperoni, you must eat the vegan "pepperoni". He lost his entire investment and shut down after six months. I do regret however that he was a genuinely nice kid when he sold me a bunch of his leftover equipment.

Runner up was a guy who started a restaurant in an amazingly nice waterfront location except that there was absolutely zero nearby parking. Like, none whatsoever. And he only had enough capital to get the place set up, not even a penny to advertise or keep the place running while he built up a customer base through word of mouth; as far as I could tell, the only thing he did was mention "hey I just opened a restaurant" on an internet forum maybe two or three days before he opened the doors. He lasted all of a week, with zero customers, before he shut down. I actually went there to eat on his second weekend, and he opened the door and told me that because he hadn't had even a single customer, he was just going to close up, bye. I felt bad for him, too, especially since he'd picked what would have been an absolutely beautiful place to have lunch while staring out at the waves.

It's been here at least 20 years, but they just built the new one 2 years ago. I'm not exaggerating when I literally mean the new one was built 3 minutes down the road from the old one.

Never even heard of that. I'll look it up.

I've never been to Argentina, but I've encountered people running places like this.
The little cafe is not their primary business, they work it on the side. They can pay somebody to work there for only so many hours. They are also empty for most of the week, it's unprofitable to work all the time.
They live off of loyal clientele or a niche weekly event. They stay open, because they like it and make just enough profit to keep going.

I'm so glad I'm getting a new phone this year that has NanoSIM and eSIM. My current phone has duel MicroSIM and frankly, it's a pain in the ass. Especially because I don't have a contract.

If I owned an actual nightclub, I'd only be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from like 3pm to 2am. That's what most of them do in Vegas. But, I agree with the regular bars. I've seen some with weird hours and random days too. My dad and I even went into a bar once where they only accepted cash, so we just walked out. Note, this bar was in a city, in the USA. It wasn't some random shack in the woods in the rural midwest.
