I am skeptical of options in instances like these. Given the counter-party nature of derivatives, I think it will be easier to default on a contract than it would be a shareholder.
The distortions that will arise from MOASS are going to create all sorts of havoc that will be exasperated by the options market. It won't just be halts for GME on the way up, but also halts on everything else on the way down.
Naked shorting creates synthetic shares which has to be rectified. Derivatives are much easier to just declare null and void if they really need to. You'll look around and plead your case to anyone and everyone who will listen. "Look, see! My contract says I am allowed to buy 100 shares for X price!" Only to find out that your counterparty is long since bankrupt. He has no shares and no money to give you. All of the shares in existence (and then some) are already owned and there are none left to settle your option contract. The market maker who sold it to you is already secretly bankrupt and happy to take your money. Doesn't mean he has any capacity to make you whole.
Same goes for things like the FDIC insurance. It is completely useless to backstop widespread losses.
