Why do people hate landlords so much?

I live in a rented studio apartment and it's great, the landlord is very helpful and polite but for some reason the other people living in the building seem to hate him for some reason.
Why is it so? Is the rent too high for these people? Do they have other complaints? I don't pay rent myself because my dad owns the building, but I don't think it's that bad.

They don't understand how the market works.
Also they don't understand that government intervention is the true cause of high rents/housing costs through zoning/building restrictions and printing endless money which gets injected right into the housing market to bid up prices.

Japan has some of the most lax building rules in the planet and they have an abundance of cheap housing even in major cities.
Compare that to san Francisco where it's impossible to build.

Also they believe the muh blackrock conspiracy theory.

Fact: Companies like blackrock/blackstone collectively own only around 0.04% of the single family housing market and have recently divested themselves from it.
How did this blackrock meme get spread far and wide and believed by 99% of people online when it's not even true?
The rental market is the least monopolized market in the country. The vast majority of rentals are owned by people who own 1-3 units.

BTW I still think blackrock is evil for other reasons and I think they should be broken up.

My landlord's great so far. Didn't raise rent for the first five years I lived here. In fact, I don't think I heard from him for the first four years. He knows he can kick me out, renovate the apartment and charge twice as much for it because the neighborhood's become bougie as hell, but I think he just doesn't want to deal with all that.

I send rent. He leaves me alone. I leave him alone.

jealousy/mad that they're poor, but also some landlords do suck. they don't gaf about their property i.e. essentially just letting it fall apart rather than fixing issues and keeping it up to standard.

Landlords are hated because they're leeches. The utility provided by their product, rented land and housing, is necessary for life. Regardless of how well-maintained it is (probably by another crew underpaid by the landlord), the landlord is effectively able to coerce you into exchanging exorbitant amounts of your income for rent because if you don't then you have to find a different place to live. There is no freedom to not participate in this game unless you're financially well-off and stable enough to purchase property for yourself.
And what of the landlord's income? All they need to do is have the capital for an upfront investment on existing property and buildings, and then we allow them to go into this mode of just collecting rent in perpetuity. Maybe they fix something every now and then, maybe they pay other people to do the same. They get to have a cozy position of mooching off of other people's income because of their insanely valuable skill of... possessing upfront capital? Absolute horse shit. All landlords can get fucked.
