the funniest part is that some jobs here have "unlimited pto" (paid time off) BUT YOU GET PENALIZED/SHAMED FOR ACTUALLY USING IT. I can not believe people tolerate that, if it's fucking unlimited you shouldn't be getting shamed for taking 6 of the 52 weeks off.

Depends how long you work at a place. I get around 3 months though I just end up taking the payout as most of my time off gets rejected.

It took 8 years for me to go from 2 weeks vacation to 3 weeks while working at the same company. Even then, time off requests are given based on seniority so it was virtually impossible for me have time off around the popular public holidays. I'm glad I escaped the rat race.

We don't standardize it but most decent jobs will give you 2-4 weeks of paid vacation, 1 week of sick (this is mandated), and 8-15 holidays.

It varies a lot, but most American professionals have at least 4 weeks off per year even at entry level.

According to studies euro healthcare is still top notch lmao. Itโ€™s just that they take care of people who are actually close to dying/really need help, while in USA the people with money get treated no matter how insignificant (compared to brain cancer or being addicted to heroin) their health problems are. In America you have to work 6 days leading up to your vacation and 6 days in a row upon return. Like, since you're taking a vacation they get you to alter your set schedule resulting in no days off surrounding your vacation. This used to make me not even want to take a vacation.

I make 90k a year working at Costco and i give myself 5 weeks off a year, yearly expenses are about 15k 20 if Iโ€™ve been treating myself. Iโ€™m 24 no debt no college, 3 whole coins and rising. It's paid vacation and you have to earn those 2 weeks. You don't just get them upfront. I worked at a place that took vacation days away from you when you called in sick and you had to work there for like two years without taking any vacation to earn enough vacation for 2 weeks off. They also scheduled me for 7 days a week for like a year so I burnt all my vacation days just calling in sick 7 days a year just to have 7 days off. Each call in was a point too and once you got 9 points it was automatic termination. LaLa US in Omaha Nebraska.

>paid leave on every so-called "squeeze day", (days that fall between a red day and weekend), no questions asked
>180 days of maternity and paternity leave that can be stretched out if you're willing to receive less (I took one year off when my child was 1). Another set of 75 or so days of paid leave that you can use until the child turns 12 (your partner gets another 75).
>if my child is sick I get to stay at home and get paid, no questions asked.
