I'm in a similar boat, I work as an engineer and have been saving for years to hopefully retire early and then be free to pursue creative ideas. I don't feel very passionate about much, but I blame that on the oppresive nature of waging, and how little energy you have leftover after the work day. I had a realization recently though, which I'll share with you. I realized that you've only really got enough time and energy in a week to properly do 1 (one) job. Any attempts to work on the side as something else is just doomed to fail or at least take 8x as long to accomplish anything. This has led me to decide that I'm going to quit my job at some point in the next year if nothing changes, so that I can actually attempt to pursue something meaningful with my time. I have enough saved that I can support myself for years with my savings if I decide to, and if all my attempts at working for myself fail, I can always get another job like the one I have now, so it feels basically risk free. At a certain point, you have to actually put your whole ass into something if you want to make it happen, that's my current philosophy.
