But really what I’m trying to say is that we can’t solve all of our issues by taxing the rich. We also need to cut spending. But beyond the military, all spending is mandatory. It can’t be cut through the normal process. So the deficit is going to rise, the interest payments are going to eclipse $1 trillion a year, the debt will be $50 trillion in ten years, and soon we won’t have people interested in buying treasuries because they realize we have no intention of being serious.

At least we have a front row seat to the downfall.
