What I'm not sure about this onloading old assets and giving GME holders preference for the new crypto, is you still run into the same problems as before. The only solution I see is using GME as the actual base currency being borrowed against to be the foundation of the CBDC/crypto.

The only benefit crypto gives you in this situation is one massive unified database, giving you perfect insight into the status of everything. To expand on crypto's insight into the state of the economy, this applies to inventory of products too. Wal mart stores have a local SQL database of their inventory, and they work with other vendors to buy supply, who also have their own local SQL database. NFTs allow for a common language for suppliers to work together more efficiently. It also allows for reduced waste, which means lower prices. Government doesn't need to subsidize corn farming to lower prices, only for tons of unsold corn to be thrown in dumpsters at grocery stores. They can reduce subsidies massively, and even only give them out in specific geographic regions where it's needed.

So GME issues a warrant as a dividend which gives share holders the option to buy stock at a set amount (32 I think). Obviously only existing shares can get the dividend but there are more outstanding shorts than there are dividends. But with a short you get the cash upfront and buy the shares later. So who has the shares right now? I can see how it fucks shit up but wouldn't it be an issue for who ever was the counter party for the short contract. I think Im missing something here.

Also bought some GME after /pol/ talked about it. They really did a lot to turn the company around.

The big problem is warrant contracts are between gamestop and shareholders, not gamestop and brokers and shareholders. So basically it's computershare vs the DTCC. The DTCC is free to counterfeit shares because "it's not a crime." OK so I think I kind of get whats going on. When market makers who are privileged to do this make an infinite loop do this, it becomes impossible to unwind. If A to B to C to A are all naked shorting off each other, and there's only 1 share to go around, but 4 short positions, how do you convince the actual retail owner to sell? Price has to go up. You're taking hard losses.

Naked shorting is illegal because it guarantees a price runup. If you have to buy 100 shares, and there are only 10 in existence, you're taking a hard loss on every purchase you make to close those positions. You've turned a possibly $10 profit bet into -$1000 across 3 brokers.
