The problem with this is the lack of ability to modify and change the property to your liking. When I make it I want a full in-house machine shop. I want all the resources available to craft any concept that I drum up.

Okay so you need a permanent residence, do that. Buy a small house zoned properly and have your machine shope.
Nobody is buying a villa in Morocco to install a machine shop. You do that in some New Jersey slum or out in unincorporated land in the midwest.
