In The Netherlands we have countless ‘consumer protection’ TV-shows.

People can turn to these for help when companies refuse to cooperate.
Or when people need a hand getting through layers of bureaucracy.
Or when people have been scammed and want to warn others.

I think we Dutch are the dumbest people on earth because of the high amount of people getting scammed by crypto and investment scams.

In my opinion, once you are scammed you are locked out of your finances and an accountant does your payments and all you get is 20euros pocket money a week.

This form of financial lock-down is for life.

As an American I've never visited any of those American cities on that chart. Trump being a "fascist" and sending in the national guard and ICE to clean up some of the worst American cities could have these places sparkling in a few years though. I'm visiting Utrecht currently. Really nice bike lanes. Also to skate on with rollerblades. Only that you technically aren't allowed to skate on them if there's a footpath. Even if that's allegedly not really enforced by the police.

We don't take care of our citizens in the US as well as the Euros do, and we have easy access to guns and drugs. Even the whitest US states are well above the poorest European countries (minus the former Soviet Bloc). There is more of an attitude of, "you take care of you", and anyone who argues that the government should work to improve the lives of it's citizens is labeled as a woke commie faggot.

We, the US, used to be comparable (and even ahead in some cases) to the developed world in terms of health, education, and general human well being - HDI. This changed around the time of Nixon, Carter, Reagan - when New Deal progressivism and the general idea that 'every new administration should find ways to improve the lives of it's citizens', was replaced by Reagan neoliberalism which remains dominant to this day. TLDR: blame the Republicans.
